The MindShift FirstLight 30L Backpack is a very well thought-out and beautifully made photo backpack which holds my mirrorless body and multiple lenses, including a large 600 mm lens. The padded partitions within are fully adjustable and stay firmly in place. The pack has ample space for other things needed for traveling, including batteries, charger, cables, binoculars and my computer. The backpack has fully adjustable straps for comfort, storage places for lots of doodads, and a rain cover, yet it is small enough to be carried onto commercial air flights. It's a winner.

I bought this bag to make carrying a large amount of equipment more streamlined. I previously had been using shoulder and messenger bags but found that I often needed to travel with a wide assortment of gear beyond what comfortably could be carried over long distances in one of those. The backpack is built well and holds a lot. I easily fit a 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 200-500 mounted, 50, 1.4x TC, 2x TC, light meter, flash, pocket wizard pair, cables, filters, etc.. you get the picture. The bag made carrying this pretty easy for hours at a time when properly adjusted to let the weight partially rest on my hips. The shoulder straps were comfortable but could be padded more and with better foam. The laptop compartment is nearly useless if you put anything in the inside zippered mesh pockets. I could barely get my iPad Pro 9.7 in an Otterbox case to fit with only a few things stored internally. The reservoir pocket on the side is handy for carrying a few other small items like phone or extra battery pack if not using it for water and it does not conflict internally. The side pockets are good for a water bottle or things you need quick access to like a phone. They have a good elastic draw cord and a clickable belt strap to provide good retention and security. When comparing against other options currently available I thought it was one of the best. With a few minor refinements it could be much better. Access to equipment requires removing the bag. Tripod carry options work well with my larger tripod. All together I like the bag. I should add that the 30l size of this bag fits well in overhead compartments on airplanes. The rain cover doubles as a ground cloth to keep either you or the bag clean/dry.

I started out with high sierra backpacks. Then I moved to a $200 HEX bag.
    I use Canon 5D Mk IV and usually carry 2-4 prime lenses (35mm, 50mm, 100mm, sometimes a 17-50 Sigma for 4K video).
All are fairly heavy lenses. I also have 70-200mm lens which if you've ever held before you know's it's a brick.
The fancy HEX bag straps started to wear out. I paid a leather tailer to reinforce them.
For a while I was thinking about the turtle shell Lowe Pro tactical bag.
But even that bag is not built for comfort.
The MINDSHIFT FIRST LIGHT backpack is the perfect set up with great protection for your gear (not hardshell but just as good in my opinion), and organization so the weight is on your hips and not on your shoulders. AND it's COMFORTABLE unlike the HEX and Lowe Pro.
Look up this backpack on YouTube for other peoples video reviews.
If you use heavy DSLR's and lenses plus a Mac Book Pro like I do, you will not regret getting this backpack.

Quality bag, lots of storage options with additional padded sections to reconfigure your camera gear layout. I was skeptical at first and was a bit hesitant on pulling the trigger on the purchase because of the price however, I am not disappointed. Plenty of room for both of my Canon camera bodies, a couple of lenses in addition to my telephoto lens. Plenty of extra pockets for extra storage of as cards, batteries, etc. I am looking forward to hitting up some CarShowz with this bag!

I purchased this bag in anticipation of using it on trips to Acadia park and the Patagonia. It served me extremely well. As an outdoor photographer, I have a lot of gear including 2 bodies 4 lenses including a 100 - 400 zoom as well as batteries, chargers, filters and extra cards. This bag did the trick. On regional jets it is allowed under the seat and on full size planes it fits in the overhead. My only missgiving is that when full, it is difficult to get a laptop in and out of the bag. I got it wet in the Patagonia and didn't have time to fool with the rain cover. My equipment stayed nice and dry. The bag dried out as well with no water stains.
