In 2015 Edmond Public Schools was named on The Oklahoman’s Top Workplaces list. EPS was named among the top 15 largest employers. The district is the largest full-time employer in Edmond with 2,554 employees. In a statement in the Oklahoman at the time, Bret Towne, EPS Superintendent said, "We owe this honor to our employees who exhibit professionalism, pride and dedication beyond their paychecks.”
Here it is just a matter of days until the first day of school in the 2016-17 year. Looking at some of the numbers from May 2016. Edmond Public School is the third largest district in the state.
Student totals 23,994. Three High Schools. Six Middle Schools. Seventeen Elementary Schools.
Over 10 schools have been recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence-the most of any district in the state.
Over the Past 11 years, Edmond’s high schools have garnered 79 OSSAA state athletic championships.
Edmond students score well above the state and national average in the ACT Composite Test averaging a composite score of 23.4.
Edmond has one of the most robust Advanced Placement programs in the state, offering 27 AP classes.
All three high schools have been recognized as among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek and The Washington Post.
Last year, the three high schools raised a combined total of way over ONE MILLION DOLLARS for their selected charities.
Edmond students excel in the fine arts having been invited to perform in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Baltimore’s Strathmore Center, and London’s New Year’s Day Parade.
National Merit Finalist and Commended Scholars are consistently named at each high school.
