After the war in 1994, it was re-established with 120 members who were trained by Ghanaian Band that was part of peacekeepers under UNAMIR (United Nation Mission in Rwanda). After the war, it was reestablished with 46 members. In 2002, Lieutenant Colonel Lemeul Kayumba was appointed commanding officer of the band deputised by Major Gilbert Ndayisabye.
