The name of San Miguel in matlazinca language is "Nepinta-Tuhi" and its meaning is habitants of the corn land. The municipity counts with a geographic size of 70.43 quadratic kilometers. San Miguel is located inside Metepec. Metepec it’s located in the Toluca Valley and their limits near the east are the municipity of San Mateo Atenco and Santiago Tianguistenco and in the west and north with Toluca and in the south with Chapultepec, Mexicaltzingo y Calimaya. The current population in this town is of 140,268 habitants. Its is unknowed the exactly day of its foundation but they think that it coincides with the foundation of Toluca. The main economic activities are agriculture , industry and trade. |
