Via a series of text messages, Gaby — a trans woman — converses with a version of herself from a parallel universe where she never transitioned.

Reception

"Unknown Number" was a finalist for the 2022 Hugo Award for Best Short Story.[3][4]

CBC.ca described it as "intimate and moving".[1]
