Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on January 4, 2012.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the Yellala Falls on the Congo River were reached in 1485 by Portuguese explorers whose engraved stone commemorating their visit was only discovered in 1911?

Extent

[edit]

Are the Yellala Falls considered part of or separate from Livingstone Falls?

It seems to depend on the source. It is common to call the whole stretch from Kinshasa to Matadi the Livingstone falls, but some call that the Lower Congo and say the Livingstone Falls are only the first set, just below the pool. This article cites sources with both views. Aymatth2 (talk) 21:04, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

First European discovery

[edit]

The paragraph should briefly describe what a padrão is, namely that it was used to mark land claims.--Typing General (talk) 08:59, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have done so. QatarStarsLeague (talk) 00:34, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Later European visitors and descriptions

[edit]

A bit too many quotations in this segment. Some of the descriptions could be converted into original prose.--Typing General (talk) 18:28, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Addressed. QatarStarsLeague (talk) 18:42, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
