Intermediate Switching Stations/PLC Repeater Stations

Does Pacific DC Intertie has intermediate switching stations as Inga-Shaba? If yes, where? Are there PLC Repeater Stations? If yes, where?

Coordinates of electrodes

Can someone please determine the coordinates of the electrodes please? It look so, that at Rice the electrode is a bit eastward of 45.4975865 N, 121.0646206 W. Can someone confirm it, please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.46.225.77 (talk) 09:40, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Where did those coordinates come from? On the current edition of Google Earth, they mark what appears to be a HVDC line running parallel to a HVAC line as they run north-south through a plowed agricultural field. I don't see anything nearby that looks like the description of the northern ground electrode. Karn (talk) 01:40, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Line capacity?

Two different line capacities are mentioned, 3.1 GW and 2.0 GW (with both conductors). Which is correct? I suspect that the line was at one point upgraded from 2.0 to 3.1 GW but I'd like an up-to-date reference. Karn (talk) 01:33, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures of electrode line in Los Angeles area required

Pictures of the electrode line between Southern California and Sylmar Converter Station are required. Also at least one picture of the section between Southern California Edison Northridge Substation and Rinaldi Electrical Substation where on two paralell running AC lines one ground conductor is replaced by the electrode line. You can identify the pylons carrying the electrode line easily as the electrode line is mounted instead of the ground conductors on the pylons, but on small insulators.

Units

I did some minor copy editing of the Components section, and got sucked into an OCD morass of {{convert}}ing all of the unit references. (That seems to be what WP:UNITS recommends). I tweaked the values slightly to use the exact values from the BPA document. Since this is an article about a US facility, I made English units be primary in all cases except the cross-sectional area, where the precise mm2 values seemed more appropriate. I'm not sure that it's truly an improvement, but at least it's largely consistent. Jordan Brown (talk) 16:45, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Photo of Towers in LA Area

The photo of the tower in the LA area says is goes over interstate 5 near the interchange with 210, however the intertie never goes over interstate 5, rather it goes over 210 near interstate 5. Not 100% sure, but pretty sure. wanted to start a topic instead of just changing it. Seanhuberth (talk) 00:51, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There were two sites, Sylmar West (across I-5 to the west) and Sylmar East (the current site). In 2005, Sylmar East was upgraded to handle the full capacity so the west station was no longer needed. That photo and another photo of the conversion station were taken in 2012 and 2013 when the DC towers across I-5 were still there as seen on the photos. The highway photo is definitely I-5 heading toward northwestern direction as you can see the exit ramp for I-210 East. Currently, those towers are no longer there. Also, if you look at the leftmost tower on the converter station photo, you will see that it was the tower with DC lines coming from I-5. Those lines were connected to anchor towers that make a 90-degree turn to the left and those lines would cross the I-210. Z22 (talk) 03:30, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
