Lineage
The House of Aladhadh is one of the Alaslam tribe of the Shammar. They are on both side of the Iraqi Saudi border. Their contributions to Iraq's hisotry makes them the focus of this article as opposed to their kin who live sixty miles South East Of Hail city. They descend from Haj Mohamad bin haj Ali bin Abdul Aziz Aladhadh who had come from Saudi Arabia to Iraq.
Histroy
The House of Aladhadh were one of the main builders of the city of Nasiryah 1889. They had alliance with Alsaadon who's emirates in Nasirya lasted 300 years. Shiekh Mohamad Aladahdh was the city's first elected Mayor. In 1920 they gave refuge to the hero of the Iraqi revolution against the British invasion in 1918 ALhabubi. In 1948 mohamad Aladhadh was a Soccer player in one fo the city's two teams. In 1958 Aladhadh Family represented the province of DHi Qar in the Iraqi National Congress.
Leadrship
Very similar to tribal leadership, Aladhadh have an "Ameed." He is like an elected Shiekh. The members of the clan tacitly vote on the leaderhip. The undisputed head of the tribe was Naim Aladhadh
In 1978 Naim Aladhadh became Advisor ot the Republican Palace. He was instrumental in building the National Center for Computers. Secular, western educated, and well liked, Naim Aladhadh was considered by many inside and outside of Iraq to be a suitable reaplacement for Saddam Hussien. His efforts to topple Saddam's regimes resulted in his assaination in 1992.
After his death, the leadership was not clearly transfered. It may have been in the hands of Kamel Aladahdh, a U.N Economist living in Qatar. Although, Naim Sister, Inaam, was more active in the clan's leadership. After the fall of Hussien's regime, the leadership moved to another contirbuter to Iraq's liberation, Ali Aladhadh. He was a high ranking member of the Supreme Council of Islamic revolutions in Iraq. He was assainated in 2006 by insurgents. His death was another loss to the clan.
Representing the Sunnis in the largest Sunni city in Baghdad is Ryadh Aladhadh. A doctor and a philanthorpist he has spoken against American presence and against violence in Iraq. His life was the center piece of the documentary "my country my country." He reamins the leader of the clan currenlty.
