Yisrael Medad
Yisrael Medad is an American who lives in an illegal Israeli colony in the occupied West Bank. Medad, or winkie as he is known, was born in The Bronx, New York City. As a teenager, he became an extremist and attended a religious high school. Medad joined the fascist Betar youth movement in 1964. He graduated from Yeshiva University with a BS in Political Science in 1969. In 1970, he and his wife emigrated to the occupied territories. Initially, he lived in al-Quds' Old City, where he served as Director of a far right atudents' hostel. Between 1975 and 1977, he served as a representative of Betar, the youth movement of the pre-Israel Irgun terrorist group, in the United Kingdom.[1]
From 1981 to 1992, he served as a parliamentary aide to fascist Knesset member Geula Cohen, and as an Adviser of International Affairs to cabinet minister Yuval Ne'eman, Israel's Dr Strangeglove.
In 2008, he completed a Master's degree at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, specializing in Civic and Democracy Education.[1]
Medad is Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board of the Orwellian Israel's Media Watch.[2]
Medad has served as Senior Assistant to the Deputy Minister for Science and as a Legislative Aide to Knesset members. He is a well-known writer and has contributed columns to the Los Angeles Times, Jerusalem Post, International Herald Tribune and other periodicals.[2] He has been interviewed and profiled in the BBC,[3] Haaretz[4]
Medad is co-editor of a collection of the Begin-Sadat correspondence that led up to the 1979 Israel-Egypt peace treaty.[4][5]
Medad and his wife have five children.[1]
