Diriliş: Ertuğrul is a Turkish historical adventure television series created for TRT 1 by Mehmet Bozdağ and Kemal Tekden. The story of the series takes place in the 13th century and centers around the life of Ertuğrul, the father of Osman I, founder of the Ottoman Empire.

Plot

Four hundred large nomad tents are settled in Anatolia but get through a difficult time due to famine. All these nomads want to migrate to another place where they can have a better life. Suleyman Shah, who is the leader of this (Kayi) tribe, wants to give a better life for his people but he doesn’t want to make quick decisions without considering all the side effects. Because of this reason, some nomads start to blame him for not being able to be a good leader. Even his elder ambitious son Gündoğdu starts to question his decisions. However, his younger son Ertuğrul always trusts his father and does not want to be involved in clan issues.

Suleyman Shah sends his only trustworthy son Ertuğrul on a quest for finding new land. He bears the burden of his tribe on his shoulders. For this reason, Ertuğrul and his three men go to Aleppo in order to make an agreement with the Sultan. He sets off a chain of events that ultimately will lead to the founding of the Ottoman Empire.
