What do you think about AIs on Wikipedia?
Hi Woshiyiweizhongguoren,
Welcome to the Wikipedia community!
Did you know that Artificial Intelligences (AIs) support Wikipedia? I saw your post on Teahouse, and I’m personally contacting a small handful of new Wikipedia editors to make sure your voice is heard as we build and refine these AIs.
Will you please provide an interview to share your thoughts about AI on Wikipedia? It would only take about 30 minutes over phone or video chat. We will send you a $15 Amazon gift card as a way to thank you for your time.
I am working in collaboration with Wikimedia Foundation staff to do this research, so if you decide to participate, your opinion could help build the future of Wikipedia. Hope to talk to you soon!
PS. You can learn more about our study here.

Speedy deletion contested: Draft:Xiamen Bridge
Hello Woshiyiweizhongguoren, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Draft:Xiamen Bridge, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: No reason was given. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Eastmain (talk • contribs) 00:51, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- I patrol new pages? That's a new one. Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 11:40, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- Speedy deletions are often applied by people who regularly patrol new pages. Eastman assumed includes you. David notMD (talk) 15:11, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah, it'll be at least a year before I can feel comfortable patrolling new pages. What do you think? Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 15:13, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- I've been here for more than ten years, working on improving existing articles, and recently, at Teahouse. It's a choice. Many newcomers are here because they want to create an article on a specific topic. Others are drawn to anti-vandalism or copyright violation monitoring. Whatever moves you. David notMD (talk) 09:16, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- Anti-vandalism efforts actually interest me. I sometimes patrol recent changes and keep a lookout for vandals, and Im planning to join the Counter-Vandalism Unit sometime soon. Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 20:59, 30 March 2019 (UTC)

Do I have to be a template editor to create user boxes (and other templates), or can I just be an auto confirmed user like I already am?
Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 11:34, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- I suggest that you read WP:Template editor and also WP:Protection policy#Template protection. Also worth reading WP:Template namespace and WP:Userboxes#Which namespace?. - David Biddulph (talk) 11:50, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Tetris Effect move
I undid your move of the video game page off "Tetris Effect". Per W:DIFFCAPS, we have no problem with two different articles with the same name but differing by capitalization/style as long as the hatnotes are used to point to the other ones as necessary. (also, if a disambiguation was needed, "(video game)" is the right phrase to use to distinguish it from board/tabletop games.) --Masem (t) 14:08, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Masem: There is no article titled "W:DIFFCAPS". Perhaps you meant something different? Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 15:58, 31 March 2019 (UTC)

Just making sure that I got everything right: after two weeks, a bot will come and start moving threads to User talk:Woshiyiweizhongguoren/Archive 1. Is that so?
Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 23:32, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- My understanding is that the bot will start sooner; it will archive everything that's older than 14 days. The first thread should reach that age in about five days. Huon (talk) 00:36, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

At the top of my draft Draft:Hulishan Fortress, there is a template called "人物保护单位". On the Chinese Wikipedia the draft is copied from (for now), the template shows a big box containing a picture of the Fortress, it's preservation status, and other statistics.
The problem, however, is that the template is in Chinese, and thus does not function on English Wikipedia. But since I've seen similar boxes (if not identical boxes) on English Wikipedia articles about similar topics, I know that the template in question most likely exists here, just having a different name. But what is that different name? I tried all the translations of the Chinese name of the template using edit preview, but nothing seems to work. Anybody know what the right template to use is?
Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 11:14, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
- I replaced the infobox template with the one for "historic site" as that seemed to be the best fit. Some things I couldn't find fields for. More later. Alpha3031 (t • c) 11:30, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

- @Huon: Drat. I thought the copyright attribution was only necessary after the conversion of the draft into an article. But I understand now, and have added the template to my other drafts too. Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 18:40, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

What exactly does substituting templates do, and why is it necessary in some cases?
Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 13:59, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
- This probably explains it a bit more than you're looking for but: Wikipedia:Substitution. Tl;dr it's so if a template is changed it doesn't break it everywhere else. Praxidicae (talk) 14:06, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
Re: Grahmart
I blocked because the user set off an edit filter, see here. If you go to a user's contributions you'll see a link to the user's edit filter log, In this case, the filter showed the user had tried to spam links to a website with the same name; per the username policy, specifically our section on accounts named after organizations, this is not allowed. The edit filter log isn't the easiest place to find if you don't know where to find it, so I hope this helps. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 13:15, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

The latest entry on the edit filter log is for a user named User:NAGARAZ, for possible sleeper account creations. But there exists no such user. What's going on?
Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 18:08, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- My guess would be that there's a system in place to limit the number of accounts that can be created by any given user/IP. Attempts to exceed the limit get stopped by the server rather than the filter itself which is why they would be logged as "no action taken" rather than "disallow" despite the action logged actually getting disallowed at a higher level (resulting in the account not getting created). I'll leave this help request open in case someone more familiar with the system wants to offer a better explanation. 78.28.54.200 (talk) 19:32, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- Each IP is allotted a maximum of 4 accounts per day, though this is occasionally lifted in the event of educational programs, events, etc. ᴀɴᴏɴʏᴍᴜᴤᴤ ᴜᴤᴇʀ (ᴛᴀʟᴋ) 19:43, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

- But then, what about the account name not being registered? Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 20:01, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- My reading is that someone tried to create the account, had the attempt logged, but didn't succeed due to the throttle - thus there's an edit filter log entry but no account. Huon (talk) 20:25, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of attack pages
Incidentally, certainly this was a marginal case, but if you think a page has attack page characteristics it's best to tag it as one. That way the page's name doesn't appear on the user's talk page or anywhere else on Wikipedia (e.g. your CSD action log page, if you have one), so the subject's name isn't spread more widely. As this person's name is common it's less of an issue, but I thought it might be good to say that in case you didn't know already. Blythwood (talk) 21:39, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Blythwood: That's useful, thanks. What's a CSD action log, by the way? Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 21:41, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- Ah, it's simple. I use the module Twinkle that does push-button CSD filing (which, fortunately, I don't do often-I mostly use it to put a welcome page on new users' talk pages!). It records a log of every page you've tagged for CSD. Mine is here: you'll see at the bottom that although it says I tagged an attack page for deletion, it doesn't give the page's title. Blythwood (talk) 21:48, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- Oh. I knew about the Twinkle CSD feature from since I got Twinkle, and I know how to use it well. I just didn't know that that was what you were referring to when you said: "CSD action log." Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 22:05, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

Question
What about this newly registered User:Gaylordbush69? Regards. Jingiby (talk) 04:11, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Jingiby: Hmm. If you have any suspicions, why don't you start an SPI, providing diffs from both users as evidence? Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 12:57, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
- Woshiyiweizhongguoren I'm just going to leave a friendly suggestion not to tag sock userpages, particularly before they are blocked and I'd advise against it even after given your short tenure here. You should leave this to admins, SPI clerks and checkusers. Praxidicae (talk) 14:16, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
