Where to write about current events

The current events portal is used to describe current world-wide events of note, not just in politics, but also in science, culture, technology, sports, entertainment and many other areas. The information in question should be added to any relevant articles as well. However, Wikipedia does not offer first-hand news reports on breaking stories (use Wikinews for that). Instead, the in the news section on our Main Page mentions and links to entries of timely interest that are (and this is crucial) nonetheless encyclopedia articles that have been updated to reflect an important current event. Non-Administrators can suggest items or changes to this Main Page section by editing the candidates page, from which administrators will update the live template from time to time.

Hey I'm looking for some help

Just started first article "List of Canadian ufc fighters" and I have been trying to get it done. But it is my first article so I'm bit confused on how some of the links and stuff works. It says my article is orphaned and I need to add more links but I'm not to sure how to do that:/ I see u edit some ufc stuff think you can help me? Got these one the page This article currently links to a large number of disambiguation pages (or back to itself) (check | fix).Please help direct these ambiguous links to articles dealing with the specific meaning intended. Read the FAQ.(September 2019)

Tsims23, Greetings. Pls see the changes I made on the HW on table setting and I have added a ref column for example. (1) Pls remove all the links "double brackets" on Nick name section and (2) please add sources (inline citation) on the ref section of the info claimed in the row. (3) Lastly, I notice you copies and pasted some of the text from other articles in Wikipedia for such you need to give proper attribution - WP:PATT, in a dummy edit and in the article talk page, to the original author as they info you added is not your work. Thank you for your help I will try my best tomorrow to get things looking better and I'm not really to sure how the links work on here yet gunna watch some videos. Tsims23 For proper attribution - see WP:PATT. Make a dummy edit and state "proper attribution to original authors of xxx page, xxx page, xxx page. Do that the same in the article talk page . For references (inline citation) - use horizontal format of Template:Cite Web if the source is from digital/web. For more detail info then pls read referencing for instruction/info. Since most of the fighters do have pages in Wikipedia, you would find the sources easily on their page. Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). CASSIOPEIA, Im a bit confused on what this < br > is what should i be putting in there? and also i tried to like a like to Harold Howard in heavyweight but it keeps saying its a missing or empty title im confused, im looking at other fighter pages to see how they have theyre refs done it seems to work for them but not mine and i entered it the same way. Wikipedia has the most complete bio for this fighter do that's what was used for info as with most of the others, I also looked them up on sherdog the matches and organizations are there but sometimes doesnt give the note worth detail. sorry bout not editing soon has been unexpectedly busy lately. thanks again for the help (Tsims23 (talk) 20:38, 2 October 2019 (UTC))[reply]
Hi Tsims23, the "br" nested inside <> = line break. Pls see Help:Wikitext. For references, do read referencing /inline citation for info and instructions. For web source, you can use "horizontal format" Template:Cite Web. You can also use Wikipedia:VisualEditor to input the reference by just input the URL and it will filled the rest of the parameter/info accordingly. Please read Wikipedia:VisualEditor/User guide on how to set up Visual Editor and info.
I dont understand what you meant by "like to Harold Howard in heavyweight but it keeps saying its a missing or empty title". Kindly reword so I may help. I also added a column for ref on HW section. Pls input info of the content (the row) claimed. If you not sure how to do it, then give me the source (URL) of the content claimed and I will add the ref/inline citation in for you as an example. CASSIOPEIA sorry about that spellcheck I ment to say I tried to link a link to harold howard in the notes section(Can be seen as a little 8 at the end of the note). But when I did, it says it was an empty link or empty title(tried to also link another says same thing. They are at the bottom in references). I gave it one but I dont know it that's how its suppose to work. I'm using another wikipedia page for code refrence or I would have even come close to getting this far lol. I wanted to make a copy of this one just for canadians instead https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Irish_UFC_fighters . I was teting to enter references how they have them. They dont have a reference column. I am also gunna have to get another buddy to help me I think. Tsims23 Thanks for the explanation, but I still not sure what issues you are facing exactly, but i have added a ref on Harold Howard to reflect the content claimed. Pls see the ref column. To add the source, as i say pls use "horizontal format" Template:Cite Web and read WP:REFB. Also Pls copy the table parameters on HW and replace them on the rest of the weight divisions. CASSIOPEIA No worries and thank you for the help very much I will begin to enter references in the format you have displayed. And it's not much to worry about anymore but down in the reference tab you can see that i have one that says it has no title but I see what u did so I dont think that will be an issue. I do want to know tho how do I get it so that I can actually make this searchable on Google because I have to search it on wikipedia only. Just wondering that's what I'll be doing last basically. CASSIOPEIA I have entered every fighter and just have to do minor edits if your free and willing think you can go over it and also help me so that when i search it on google it actually shows up. thx for ur help so far.
Tsims23 Greetings. what you provided are not independent source (sherdog/tapology/ufc/figther home page and etch as the sources are associated with the subjects). We are after independent, relable sources such as any manjor newspapers, mma junkie, mma figting, In the cage, ESPN mma, bloody elbow, Combate, Low Kick mma, MMA DNA, Sherdog (article pages and not the fighter databases/fight records), MMA Mad, Asia MMA, MMA Mania, MMA Suka, MMA Basil,Kimura.se and etc. Any way you would find the sources are from the fighters' pages, or you could search on Google just type "xxx fighter vs. xxx fighter results". CASSIOPEIA I know exactly what ur saying I plan on adding 2 references per person, I put the sherdog reference in as it is the first reference for every fighter profile on the site(I guess we use them as a reference to all mma stats on wiki) I do plan on entering more links I just disnt have the time the other day. Also wanted u to have a look over it just to make sure I didnt messup before I went and added another 98 references. Just wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to go back and fix too much :) however for some fighter sherdog is the only thing that they might have I'm talking bout the obscure fighters that dont yet have a wikipedia page. Most all of there notes that If listed(ex.Has 7 fight win streak), notable wins and appearances are all just from looking at sherdog. Tsims23 Good day. First of all pls read Help:Wikitext which I have sent you earlier which would help you on "Wikipedia mark up text" on your editing and communication with other editors. Do add an extra ":" (one space indentation) from the previous message when replying on talk page for this is the common communication protocol for message thread. Secondly, you can link the the article for red link text by placing a "|" after the read text and place the exact page. Example UFC FN 23 you can either do this UFC FN 23 or UFC FN 23 (pls see in source editing mode). You can find all the UFC events here - List of UFC events. I have added extra column after the fighters' record so you may add the source (Sherdog) there. As for the second ref column (far right) you can put the source for specific info claimed for "Notes" or "Notable wins". Do copy the HW table template on the top and paste on all other divisions and add extra "|" after the "MMA record" on the table parameter (see HW for example). Cheers. CarlSeederso, Greetings. Official website/home page/records/databases are not considered independent sources. Sources from newspapers are good source. Provide source for Liga Națională wins, European competitions Finalists: 1973, Third place: 1967, previous players and coachers. Also p pls provide sources that talk about the club. Done now, it has now 2 newspapers sources plus a Romanian Handball Federation source (History of the Game with clubs and national teams, and notable players of the era). Everything is there. CarlSeederson, Reviewed. The article just/barely meets the notability guidelines. I tried to find sources but just found game results and I dont read Balkan Romance language. Well, you said sources in any language. Google Translator works perfect with Romanian. Not just Liga Națională (women's handball) tells they won the 10 Romanian championship (with Romanian Handball Federation sources) but also the Women's EHF Champions League (and here the sources are taken from the European Handball Federation. It's also easy to translate with Google the two Romanian newspapers (I did that). It's still a team of the 60s and the 70s, but it's highly notable. It meets criteria even for participating in the Romanian first division. But they also won medals internally and internationally. CarlSeederson, yes sources can be any languages, and I did read the translated sources. However, the European handball Federation is considered non independent sources as it is associated with the subject. if you can find print source (60's 70's) then added them in if possible. Cheers. G13 of never-submitted AfC drafts

Hi. I recently came across a log entry for Draft:Magaret Lin Xavier, which I remembered as a promising draft, so requested undeletion and clicked the AfC submit button (it was promptly accepted). It seems that the original contributor (who hasn't been active since) forgot to submit their draft.
