Adele McClure is an American Democratic politician from Virginia. She was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in the 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election from the 2nd district.[1]

Education and career

McClure is the daughter of a Filipino immigrant.[2] McClure graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University.[3] She was executive director of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus.[4]

Political career

She was elected to the Virginia House of Representatives in 2023 and took office in January 2024. Shortly after taking office, she proposed state legislation to implement single-stair reform as part of an effort to increase housing supply in Virginia. Current Virginia building codes require that apartment buildings have two stairwells, which raises housing costs without any clear improvements in safety.[5]
