Rose windows
Thank you for replacing the Strasbourg image with a much better one. With regards to the Notre Dame image, it was the wrong image for the context. That section of the article demonstrated a series of pics in which each window was shown in its architectural context.
However, the picture was so detailed that it was perfect to demonstrate the subject matter of the stained glass, so you will now find it a bit further down the page, where it contrasts with the window of St Denis, the symbolism of which is quite different.
If you've got a very good pic that needs inclusion in an article that is already full of pics, a good way to go is to put it on the articles talk page. Amandajm (talk) 01:00, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oh! I can only read English! I have just used your pic of a window from Notre Dame in the article Jesse tree. Amandajm (talk) 14:50, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply, and for the URL to make translations. If I write to you, I will use simple correct English, so that the translation is good. There were some funny words in the translation of your message, but I could understand! English is a difficult language with many subtleties, nuances. (try two words)
- You photos of stained glass are very clear and very detailed.
- Your photograph of the window at Notre Dame was excellent, because the Madonna and Christ Child at the centre can be clearly seen. The text of the article describes windows that have the Madonna at the centre. There are three major subjects for large ancient rose windows. 1. The Madonna and Christ Child sitting on a throne, 2. the Creation, with God at the centre, 3. the Last Judgement, with Christ at the centre.
- Where do you live? Are you in Poland? Did you take these pictures while you were on Holiday? Are you living in France? Do you photograph architecture as well?
- I live in Australia. But I write about Medieval and Renaissance Art. I have uploaded on Wikimedia some architectural pictures that I took while I was on Holidays. But, it is often difficult to find the right pictures, when I am writing an article on Wikipedia.
- I hope this makes sense! Amandajm (talk) 01:38, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
