Ties
[edit]Shouldn't Spain considered as 9th place and Portugal 5th, due to both being tied with another country each? Or aren't the ties random except for first places? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.129.154.210 (talk) 21:32, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Ties are never random, Portugal placed 6th and Spain (10th), because Austria (5th) and Denmark (9th) were voted by more countries. That new rule was introduced in the year 2006. But remember back in the year 2004, when Croatia (13th) failed to qualify for the 2005 final despite of having the same amount of points of Malta (12th) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tony0106 (talk • contribs) 21:36, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Nope, the EDC rules don't state that... ZdS| talk 21:46, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Just look at my source.. Talk to the EBU, not to me —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tony0106 (talk • contribs) 21:59, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Furthermore, that rule you stated only applies to ties for first place or the last place which gives access to the final. ZdS| talk 07:57, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
But what does the official scoreboard of the official website of the Eurovision Dance Contest says?? We all know there are absolutely NO ties at the eurovision, either the song contest, the junior or the dance contest.. If you remember lookin at the scoreboard at the end of the voting, you would have noticed Austria outranking Portugal... Please... And is not because I didnt like the portuguese entry, they were awesome, they deserved being in the Top 5.. But thats not the reality.. Plus I hate ties.. lol —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tony0106 (talk • contribs)
- Nobody's here complaining that Austria or Portugal or Spain or Denmark should have been ranked higher or lower. It's just that I, personally, have some hard time accepting Eurovision as a source when they contradict themselves (because their rules state nothing about ties in a place other than first). I've since read the Voting at the Eurovision Song Contest article, where it's written, and I quote:
Ties for other places are only officially resolved if they matter for qualification purposes.
- So any decision is therefore unnoficial. Plus, there's this rule I didn't know:
For the 2007 contest, the winner in a tie-break situation, would had been the country sang first due to the advantage of singing later on wheather this will be the case for 2008 is yet to be confirmed.
- (sic)
So even if you want to use tie-breakers - which you shouldn't because a) you're biased against ties and b) officially, there is a tie - shouldn't Spain be placed ahead of Denmark? ZdS| talk 09:44, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
