Overlooking Signpost
I'm wondering if there is a way to have the bot overlook postings of The Signpost on my talk page and not archive them, there are times the bot gets there before I do. Thanx. Mlpearc (open channel) 00:54, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) There is one solution: setting
|Algo=
longer, so it can stay on your talk page longer, and you can see it. I think it is impossible (or hard) to ignore certain keywords. --레비Revicon 09:55, 3 January 2014 (UTC)- (talk page stalker) You can use {{subst:do not archive until}}, but I don't think that applies given I understand the situation. ~HueSatLum 15:13, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- This feature does not exist. ... yet. Misza DID say that he would add more complex options to the |algo parameter, but we're still waiting on him... →Σσς. (Sigma) 10:12, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Apology for errors and delay in getting back here
I dumped a large post and then disappeared for a week. I had expected to be away for only a day. By the time I got back to Wikipedia the thread had been archived. That the thread was archived has made it easy to further postpone getting back here, particularly since I should be eating some crow.
Σ, you were correct on your assessment on all four pages we were discussing at the end. For the page with the large difference, somehow I saw something that was not there (the lack of a closing "}}"). On the others, while I feel removing comments is not optimum, it is much better than failing to archive without any feedback to the user. At least with the removal of comments, the user can see that the comment(s) were removed while lcΣB3 performed the archiving the user expected.
I apologize for my errors, and the extra delay in getting back here to state that you were correct. Makyen (talk) 09:01, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- Your concerns were not unreasonable, and our issues have been solved. Don't worry about it. →Σσς. (Sigma) 10:12, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

My talk page archiving
Hi there! The bot doesn't seem to have archived my page since Boxing Day and it should archive anything over 7 days old. Is there something on my page that's blocking it, or is there another reason? Thanks! GedUK 13:13, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) It sometimes skips some talk pages, with unknown reason. (I was victim of it!) I think Σ will run it soon, and archive it. --Revitalk 13:23, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! I wasn't sure if yet another bot had started doing this. There seems to have been several since I set it up back in the day! GedUK 13:34, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Why was this archieved
This was still in current talk discussions as I don't know why it was removed? http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3ASuperpower&diff=588597044&oldid=588584460 There is an older topic on the talk page of Superpower which was not removed but this link was. Why? There still some discussions on this toic that should be addressed for the article. It should be archieved back for contiuned discussion.--162.211.179.89 (talk) 19:05, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- The section that was archived hadn't been touched since April 2013, making it the oldest thread on the page and eligible for archiving. →Σσς. (Sigma) 07:25, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
archiving bot logs
I tried to find links to some logs at User:lowercase sigmabot III, but couldn't find any. It would be a good idea to publish them.
I was wondering what it thinks of Talk:Serbs now. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 17:30, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- I don't see any compelling reasons to have the logs published. The configuration for that talk page looks fine. →Σσς. (Sigma) 00:53, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
Edit filter permission requests were not correctly archived
I just noticed this today. The discussion was properly archived, but the permission requests just vanished. Any idea what happened? Jackmcbarn (talk) 23:14, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- No, but that edit is from early November, and as such is no longer relevant. We should put those threads in the archive, though... →Σσς. (Sigma) 18:49, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Lowercase sigmabot III: Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects
Hello,
This bot is archiving requests at Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects before they've been answered. Please prevent it from doing so.
Thank you, 213.246.85.251 (talk) 12:33, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)I have temporarily increased the time threads stay on that page prior to archiving from 2 days to 10 days to allow time to deal with the backlog. Given that the page is using date based archive names, there is really no good way to do what you desire. lcΣB3 does not have a parameter which would allow it to be told to not archive a thread if the thread has not been resolved.
- On the other hand, User:ClueBot III (CB3) does have a parameter which makes it immediately archive a thread if the thread contains a string specified in its archivenow parameter. Using a parameter to CB3 of
|archivenow={{afc-c|b}}
would result in CB3 archiving all resolved threads each time it ran. However, the problem with using CB3 in this situation is that Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects uses date based archive names and CB3 does not put pages into an archive based on the date in the thread. When archiving by date, CB3 uses an archive page name derived from a date equal to (NOW - age) where "age" (in hours) is the parameter supplied in the template, not the age of each specific thread. This would result in at least some threads which are archived immediately to be moved to an archive which is 1 month earlier than their actual date (e.g. everything resolved would be archived in 2014-01 will go into the 2013-12 archive). Depending on how long has been specified for CB3 to leave threads on the page this will result in some, or all, immediately archived threads to be in the wrong archive. This would be confusing to editors attempting to find a request in the archive, and would be a change from the current behavior.
- For date based archives, using lcΣB3 is better. lcΣB3 correctly puts threads in archives based on the most recent date it finds in the thread. Makyen (talk) 19:42, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
