Sunir Shah

[edit]

Hello RepublicanJacobite. How are you? I need advice concerning a Wikipedia deletion debate which was carried out in a most undemocratic fashion to axe my article about Sunir Shah. You can find the details on my talk page. Thanks for any help you can give me. - Redeyed Treefrog (talk) 22:13, 26 December 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Dear Sir, I have not viewed myself as being engaged in an edit war. I am actually gratefully to at least one of the other editors. I was not aware, for example, that the IRA's attack on the Auxiliary Division in the pub was a retaliation for the bayonetting of Micheail, or of its later significance in the film. I have never hit the revert key, but have reworded some of the edits, hoping to improve English usage in the text. Best Wishes! Kingstowngalway (talk) 02:48, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your note about you having visited dreamtime along time ago, and was wondering who you are. My name is Zon, I have lived at DTV almost all my life, so I would most likely remember you. My email is wakest at gmail if you care to reply there. wakest (talk) 12:59, 31 December 2007

Space Opera format

[edit]

I'm not much of a Wiki format expert, but as a print-era dinosaur, I'm used to a notes-and-bibliography model that separates specific annotations from general listings of sources and/or additional reading. So I find an "External Links" section convenient and easy to understand, and the conversion to in-line references struck me as less reader-friendly than the plain old link list--a programmer's rather than a writer's (or reader's) approach to the format problem. If I were king, I'd order a reversion to the earlier format. As it is, I'm just one voice at the town meeting. RLetson (talk) 18:56, 31 December 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Deleteing things from the talk page

[edit]

Please don't delete things from the talk page. The role of women in "cool" is a valid question worth at least thinking about. The article makes no mention of gender at all at present, and that may be the way it needs to stay if there are no sources that support such ideas, but it is a valid question. So please stop deleting it. If you don't like the way the matter is being discussed I suggest you take that up with the individual users at their talk pages. OK? futurebird (talk) 19:48, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Read it again, I think you might have missed the entire point of the conversation. futurebird (talk) 21:30, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

William Wallace

[edit]

Why are you entertaining 80.229.9.98's trying to justify a massacre. He is obviously biased and his research inaccurate. -RiverHockey (talk) 19:28, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am following the rules, and allowing him to dig his own grave. A number of editors are now aware of his tactics. Take a look at his talk page. The more outrageously he behaves, the more likely he is to get himself into trouble. But, I am not going to bait him, either. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 19:32, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but the sad thing is 'by following the rules' readers will now read a biased and misinformed entry if using Wikipedia to research the Battle of Culloden. But, I agree with your approach and let's hope that the administrators make the best decision. -RiverHockey (talk) 04:03, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I notice you keep removing all the instances of two spaces when you edit articles, for example here. I usually add two spaces after a full stop period, but many wikipedians are not in favor of that practice. Note that there are no guidelines on whether to use one space or two after the end of a sentence, the difference is only visible in the edit box, and it is ignored by web browsers when displaying the article (see: Spaces after the end of a sentence). Otherwise, the use of two spaces is recognized by many text editor programs like Emacs, vi or TeX. We don't want to do double work! Two spaces??? —PJoe F. Re: Re: French spacing

[edit]

No problem. Actually, I don't use Emacs and I have a neutral POV about that practice, but I know there are many editors that prefer to use it. Thank you! —PJoe F. (talkcontribs) 16:23, 3 January 2008 (UTC) [reply]

I have informed the IP about the WP:3RR on their talk page, I presume the two accounts are the same, and informed USER:Alison[1]. It could get out of hand if they keep reverting, and may have to be reported on WP:3RR. --Domer48 (talk) 17:05, 6 January 2008 (UTC) [reply]

Regarding this IP, I have noticed that you have left a comment on his/her talk page, this person has been constantly vandalizing after multiple warnings (under different IP's) please take a minute to review their edit history and you will see that it is not an edit war, this person is reverting my edits as a personal attack. I want the range to be blocked but don't know how to request.--The Dominator (talk) 04:30, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks--The Dominator (talk) 04:41, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
