The result was keep. cited school as per Wikipedia:OUTCOMES#Schools - nominator also withdrew his non. (non-admin closure) Off2riorob (talk) 06:52, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can't locate any independent, verifiable sources that establish this school's notability. Further, there has been no movement on this article in the 20 days since the warnings were posted. Sailing to Byzantium (talk) 23:58, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. As per nominator, there is no sourcing to verify or even indicate why this college is considered notable. --DAJF (talk) 00:38, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Question. Schools and colleges at high school level or above are generally accepted as suitable topics for Wikipedia articles, as documented at WP:OUTCOMES#Schools and explained at WP:NHS. Is there any reason why this should be an exception? Phil Bridger (talk) 19:50, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Great question! As noted in WP:OUTCOMES#Schools, an exception is granted to this rule when zero reliable sources can be found. As I mentioned in the nomination, I was unable to find any source whatsoever. Here is the search I used. Note that most of the results are simply a mirror of the current Wikipedia article. The best source I could find was an unrelated document with the name of an ex-president of the school (there is nothing in the document about the school itself). Per WP:NHS, in order to avoid bais I did my best to search for local non-English sources. I used Google translate and went through the website of the college linked in the article. However I was unable to find any links to external articles of media. If someone can find an independent source, I'll happily withdraw this request. Sailing to Byzantium (talk) 20:28, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Hrm, so I've found this which appears to be some sort of yearbook. It lists a college by the same name and the location matches what I found on the college website. Do you think that is sufficient? Sailing to Byzantium (talk) 20:36, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- You just needed to search for its Japanese name, "成美大学短期大学部". Moscowconnection (talk) 16:05, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Where is the spam in this article? It describes the college in a perfectly neutral way. Phil Bridger (talk) 20:50, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong Keep As said by Sailing to Byzantium, per WP:OUTCOMES#Schools, "Most independently accredited degree-awarding institutions and high schools are being kept except when zero independent sources can be found to prove that the institution actually exists." So, we only have to prove it exists. The Google News search for "成美大学短期大学部" which is the Japanese name for Seibi Junior College, comes up with this news article. It's about a coffee shop run by college students. Moscowconnection (talk) 16:05, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Note: if you paste the article into Google translator (like this), replace "Narumi" with "Seibi" cause it doesn't translate the name correctly. To check, you can paste "成美大学短期大学部", click "Read phonetically", and see that it says "Seibi Daigaku ...". Moscowconnection (talk) 16:05, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Here's Seibi University Junior College offical website. Moscowconnection (talk) 16:12, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Withdraw As we've located a source, it think it's clear per WP:OUTCOMES#Schools that this AfD is invalid. Special thanks to Phil Bridger and Moscowconnection for being on point with this. I'd like to withdraw the AfD, but WP:AfD is vague on how that procedure actually works. Sailing to Byzantium (talk) 16:16, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Per Wikipedia:WITHDRAWN#Withdrawn_nomination, "the discussion should not be speedily closed" now when there are "Delete" votes. It's best to wait for an admin to come. The article may still be deleted. Moscowconnection (talk) 20:42, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - verifiable high school. The essay WP:NHS explains why we keep high schools. For obvious reasons finding good sources on Google for Japanese schools is non-trivial so ample time should be allowed to find local/Japanese-language sources so as to avoid systemic bias.
