Jasper Deng's oppose
[edit]- Oppose: Where's your understanding of WP:BLP.
Anyone can move pages, so if that's the reason for this RfA, the mop is not needed.Jasper Deng (talk) 17:01, 12 April 2011 (UTC)- Sorry, I actually meant to move pages over redirects.-RHM22 (talk) 17:03, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Lengthy thread regarding this !vote moved to talk page. Swarm X 20:24, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Seems that you've been in an edit war way too recently...Jasper Deng (talk) 17:05, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- What edit war is that? Links? 28bytes (talk) 17:26, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- See his answer to the 3rd question.Jasper Deng (talk) 17:28, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. It wasn't clear if that was the basis or if you had another incident in mind, and I couldn't find anything in the noticeboard archives. 28bytes (talk) 17:30, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- He reverted because he felt an editor was inserting POV, which isn't that earth-shattering; however, the important thing is he settled for a compromise, which show's that he's reasonable and willing to work to resolve disputes. The purpose of Q3 isn't to punish users for past incidents, but to see if they handled them in the right way; which they seem to have done. Swarm X 18:04, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- That's my interpretation as well. Opening a discussion on the other editor's talk page or the article's talk page would have been better, but eh. More like an edit skirmish than an edit war. At first glance I thought RHM22 might have broken 3RR, but on closer inspection there were no intervening edits between the first two of his four reverts, so that's essentially three. 28bytes (talk) 18:13, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

- Could you please show an example of RHM22 misunderstanding BLP? I'm genuinely interested. Jenks24 (talk) 17:43, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- To be honest, I have done very little work on BLPs. I did do some work on Scott sisters late last year, if that's what you were talking about. You can see my interactions with the article creator and others on the talk page.-RHM22 (talk) 17:55, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Do you know what constitutes a violation of BLP and how to deal with it (both if you were an admin and if you weren't)?Jasper Deng (talk) 18:06, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Perhaps you should ask a question (above)? Swarm X 18:14, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- The syntax seems to be wrong. It's my first time.Jasper Deng (talk) 18:17, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Logistics of vote-counting bots
[edit]- Moved from Oppose 5 (Fetchcomms).--Chaser (away) - talk 14:42, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
- I've added the text '''Oppose''' to the top of your comment because the system wasn't counting it as an oppose. If you don't want this text here, feel free to revert me. Nyttend (talk) 21:51, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- It counts the #'s, not the words "oppose". SoxBot just doesn't update in real-time.--Atlan (talk) 22:11, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, okay: I thought the tally was somehow automatically updated, like with magic words — I didn't know that it was updated by a bot. Nyttend (talk) 22:38, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, see this to get an idea on how and how often it works. Wouldn't it be nice though if it really were magic? :)--Atlan (talk) 22:48, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, okay; thanks. Yes, it would be; I know some things are magic around here, but I don't understand how they work, so my inability to understand how this worked didn't keep me from thinking that it was also some sort of magic words thing. Nyttend (talk) 01:25, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
