- Los Hechos de los Apóstoles (en griego antiguo, Πράξεις τῶν Ἀποστόλων, Práxeis tôn Apostólōn; en latín, Actūs Apostolōrum), también conocido como el libro de los Hechos o simplemente los Hechos, es el quinto libro del Nuevo Testamento. El libro narra la fundación de la Iglesia cristiana y la expansión del cristianismo por el Imperio romano. Los Hechos y el Evangelio de Lucas forman una única obra de dos partes (Lucas-Hechos u opus lucanum) escrita entre los años 80 y 90 d. C. El propio libro en su inicio manifiesta que es una segunda parte. Sin embargo, los textos se separaron antes de que se escribieran los manuscritos que llegaron hasta hoy. Con esta separación se buscaba cultivar el conocimiento de los evangelios como una unidad de archivos sagrados, a los cuales los Hechos servían como una especie de apéndice. Es de un interés y valor históricos únicos: no hay ningún otro libro como este dentro del Nuevo Testamento. Su abreviatura para citas es Hch en castellano y Act en latín. El libro de los Hechos es la única historia de la Iglesia primitiva, primitiva tanto en el espíritu como en la sustancia; sin él sería imposible tener un cuadro coherente de la edad apostólica. Con él, las epístolas paulinas son de un valor histórico incalculable; sin él, permanecerían incomprensiblemente fragmentarias e incompletas, a menudo incluso confundirían. No contiene la historia de todos los apóstoles, sino solo la de Pedro y de Pablo.
