Man shot in Murfreesboro near community center

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WZTV) — UPDATE:

Murfreesboro Police confirm a man was found in the roadway shot on Thursday morning.

Officers are still on scene investigating along South University Street and Reid Alley, about a mile away from Middle Tennessee State University.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Byrus M. Hughes. He is in critical, but stable condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center, according to Murfreesboro police.

No suspect information was given. The investigation is ongoing.

Murfreesboro Police are responding to a shooting Thursday morning.

It happened along South University Street, about a mile away from Middle Tennessee State University.

The shooting investigation is also near the Patterson Community Center.
