HarbourFront MRT Station (NE1/CC29) is an underground interchange station along the North East Line (NEL) and Circle Line (CCL) Stage 5, serving as the terminating station of both lines. It is built underneath Telok Blangah Road and adjacent to the VivoCity and HarbourFront Centre developments.
Formerly to be known as World Trade Centre station, the station and surrounding area were renamed to HarbourFront in the wake of the September 2001 terrorist attacks and in tandem with the demolition of exhibition halls. The name characterizes HarbourFront as a gateway to Keppel Harbour, lined with waterfront developments.
HarbourFront station serves the VivoCity shopping centre, nearby office buildings and is also a gateway for visitors heading for Sentosa Island and HarbourFront Cruise Terminal. Bus services are offered from the HarbourFront Bus Interchange in addition to many bus services along Telok Blangah Road.
Outside of the rail network, the separate Sentosa Express monorail also operates out of HarbourFront. Commuters should proceed to VivoCity Level 3 ( S1 VivoCity station) for monorail connections.

HarbourFront station has four platforms, with the North East Line (NEL) and the Circle Line (CCL) occupying two platforms in an island platform arrangement, both at Basement 2.
For the NEL, only Platform A will be used to turnaround trains during the off-peak hours. During the peak hours, both platforms will be used.
For the CCL, Platform A is used only for the alighting of passengers from trains arriving from Telok Blangah. Trains will switch tracks further up the line and return to Platform B to pick up a fresh load of passengers for its next journey.
Concourse
North East Line and Circle Line ticket concourses are both located at Basement 1.
Both concourses are connected with paid links and an unpaid corridor runs around the concourses, leading to various station exits. The CCL ticket concourse is located adjacent to an underground exit to Basement 2 of VivoCity.
NEL Art in Transit: “Enigmatic Appearances” by Ian Woo
Abstract images on blue vitreous enamel panels evoke a sense of open seas and ocean-bound vessels. This maritime theme is depicted through clean, uncluttered line drawings of nature, water and symbols of the marine industry rendered in the artist’s fluid, minimalist style. A pair of footprints located at platform level adds a gentle touch of humour to the southernmost station of the North East Line.
CCL Art in Transit: “Commuting Waves” by Jason Ong
The artwork consisting of a pair of three-dimensional waveforms draws a contextual link between HarbourFront and train commuters. It is derived through elements of chance by computing the travel patterns of commuters on a particular weekday and weekend. The pitch and spacing of the glass planes represent the passenger volumes and train frequencies during the operating hours. The fragmented planes developed through repetitions and variations are influenced by the gradual process of transformation in minimalist music while the arrangement of the colours and the images of HarbourFront water are determined by the principle of serial music composition. Commuting Waves is essentially a reflection of the rhythm and flow of human activities captured in time.
Civil Defence shelter
HarbourFront NEL station is one of thirteen stations along the North East Line designated as Civil Defence (CD) shelters, which will be activated in times of national emergency. Apart from reinforced construction, the stations are designed and equipped with facilities to ensure the shelter environment is tolerable for all shelterees during shelter occupation. These facilities include protective blast doors, decontamination facilities, ventilation systems, power and water supply systems and a dry toilet system.

Passenger Usage Patterns
HarbourFront is an important interchange station linking the North East Line with the Circle Line, and as such, encounters large numbers of transfer passengers between the two lines. Serving commuters in and out of the popular Sentosa and HarbourFront areas, passenger traffic through this station is high throughout the day.
Construction
North East Line Contract 711 for the construction and completion of World Trade Centre station and associated tunnels was awarded to Korean company Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. The working name for HarbourFront station was World Trade Centre Station.
Circle Line Stage 5 (CCL5) Contract C856 for the construction of West Coast, Pasir Panjang, Alexandra, Telok Blangah and HarbourFront stations and associated tunnels was awarded to local company Sembawang Engineers & Constructors Pte Ltd.
LTA spent S$8.2 million to extend the North East Line’s overrun tunnel by 48 metres to facilitate faster train turnarounds. Works were awarded to Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co (Singapore) under Contract 713, and completed by end-2014.
Future Developments
Circle Line Stage 6 between HarbourFront and Marina Bay stations is scheduled for completion in 2026.

I guess Platform A at the CCL Harbourfront Station will allow boarding when CCL Stage 6 opens.
I say that station NE2 must be built between this station and Outram Park station. Then call it Kampong Bahru ter and can extend the “9th line” to terminate there
