Admittedly I only watched this because Billie Joe Armstrong is in it. A little disappointed that he was only in two scenes, but the movie really surprised me. My expectations were low but I really enjoyed the movie. It was sweet and heartfelt with a beautiful emotional score that perfectly complemented the tone.
I haven’t seen Gossip Girl so I’m unfamiliar with the lead actress Leighton Meester but she did a great job playing the nanny who forms a bond with the 13 year old boy she is looking after. Unlike The Nanny Diaries, the film revolves around the relationship between the two unlikely people.
An enjoyable film and probably would revisit.
it’s that brittany murphy dakota fanning uptown girls movie except with blair from gossip girl and billie joe armstrong
Should’ve come across this soulful piece of independent cinema long ago—sometime after my first watch of Gossip Girl. But i’m here, and that’s what counts. I know i could be good friends with someone who gets this euphoria after spotting an actor in a movie, proceeding to look up their filmography and throwing on anything, just for them. In this case, Frank Whaley—fairly so—caught my eye in Career Opportunities, which i watched the other day, and that led me to one of the works of his creation. Ngl the landing on this one couldn’t have been smoother as it came with the guiding star. Feels nice to have an actor whose name in the cast gives you that comfort and sweet reassurance…
Not gonna lie, my initial reason for watching this was because Billie Joe Armstrong is in it. I've loved Green Day since middle school, and I've been meaning to watch his films for a while. I've seen Ordinary World and thought it was fine, so this was next.
Although he was only in, I think, three scenes, I ended up being so pleasantly surprised by this film. It is just lovely and sweet. The dynamic between 20-something Eleanor and the 12-year-old she nannys, Reggie, is beautiful. You really get the sense that they bonded during their time together. I really recommend this one!

I have too many emotions to write about this film in a way that would make much sense. All I can say is this film moved me in many ways, an unlikely relationship between a lonely, child prodigy and his nanny that is both beautiful and heart-breaking all at once.
At the heart of it all is their love for music which I just adored.
I'll think about it a little more and I might add more but for now that's really all I have to say.
this is just a sadder version of Uptown Girls but i think i love it just as much???
Leighton Meester as a darling nanny for a music prodigy set in a posh New York apartment, sign me up!!
I love this movie, there’s a real warmth and tenderness to it. Leighton is so lovely to watch, in this film she seems totally at ease, almost as though she’s not even acting. It’s such a shame her career seems to have slumped, she’s so talented and has such great charisma.
The score is gorgeous, I could listen to the music all day, it’s so relaxing, I notice a few other reviews have commented on the score too, it really is stunning.
Simple and sweet. Perfect to watch if you’re feeling a little down and want something quiet and gentle to pep you back up. :)
An underrated precious little gem! I adore this film. It's a quite film, but it's somehow soothing and packs a lot of charm. The chemistry between the two leads Leighton Meester and Julian Shatkin feels so genuine and is what really makes this film work so well.
Won't change your life but a sweet little movie about a girl who becomes a nanny for a rich kid who loves music. The script and warm performances elevate the rather trite material.
this is just a more dramatic version of uptown girls
as a gossip girl and green day fan, i was over the moon when i first watched this in 2014 and believed it to be the sweetest and cutest movie ever... watching it again years later, i still think the same
I was billiejoebaited, but I actually enjoyed it, so I'm not mad about it.
