The Sequatchie County Sheriff's Department and the Chattanooga Bomb Squad worked a somewhat unusual call on Wednesday night.

They were called to properly dispose of an artillery round dating from the World War II era.

Detectives got a call from a person who found the shell, and arrived to the East Valley Road area to find the 75MM round.

They contacted the Chattanooga Bomb Squad, who advised them to take the shell to an open field away from the public to prevent anyone from getting hurt.

Chattanooga Bomb Squad Technicians arrived on scene and preformed a control detonation to render the artillery round safe.

The person who found the round was not identified.
