Lynn Woods Fire: Wind-Whipped Blaze Burns for Hours

LYNN, MA — A fire fed by 50 mph winds burned for hours and scorched multiple acres at Lynn Woods Friday night. The blaze broke out sometime around 4:30 p.m. and burned well into the night. Winds of 25 mph, with 50 mph gusts, fanned the flames.

Firefighters monitored the blaze as it burned out; it was too dangerous for them to get closer because of the darkness and strong winds, officials told WCVB.

There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Lynn Woods is a 2,200-acre park owned by the City of Lynn.
