BARRINGTON, RI — A Barrington Middle School student has been named a finalist in the 13th annual "Doodle for Google" competition and the winner of the sixth and seventh grade age group, said Google in an announcement Monday.

Marketa Douglas drew a Doodle about her grandmother, titled "Connections and kindness," that was inspired by this year's competition theme, "I am strong because..."

"My Doodle shows my grandma and I, connected by one of the only ways of communicating at this time," said Douglas. 'It’s meant to represent doing your best to be kind and stay strong for others, with the different symbols showing other places I see this strength every day.”
