Madison Graduate Wins With Rowing Team At Henley Women’s Regatta
A Madison High School graduate is making a splash in international rowing with her team's win at the Henley Women's Regatta in England.
VIENNA, VA — A Madison High School graduate is finding success in rowing competition across the pond.
Madison Geib, a class of 2019 graduate now attending Oxford Brookes University, was part of a team that competed in the 2024 Henley Women’s Regatta in Henley, England last weekend. Her team's boat won the regatta in the Aspirational Academic 8+ category. With a time of 04:44.4, the team came out about three seconds ahead of second-place finisher Edinburgh University. Edinburgh had been leading for over half the course, but Brookes made a late push to match Edinburgh and pull ahead to the finish line.
Oxford Brooks Rowing also won the Ron Needs Challenge Cup for Championship in the Championship 8+ category. According to Oxford Brookes University Rowing, Brookes won the Academic 8+ category five times since 2018.

Geib and other women's rowers are next looking to make the Henley Royal Regatta by competing in the Qualification Regatta Friday.
Geib is working toward a master's degree from Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, England. She previously attended Stetson University and was on the women's rowing team there.
