About the Quick Knit Cowl / Neck Warmer:
This cowl/neck warmer is a must have for the winter! Not only is it made with chunky/thick yarn, but it can be folded over to provide double the warmth. This is a very quick knit and perfect for beginner knitters. The entire scarf consists of a 1x1 ribbed pattern which can be completed with the simple knit and purl stitches (watch the knit stitch 'how to' tutorial here, purl stitch tutorial here). My scarf ended up being about 22 inches in circumference & about 9.5 inches in width. I chose to use a bold red color to contrast the (at times) dreary winter days.
Materials I Used:
- 16'' US size 15 circular needles
- Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Yarn (color: cranberry); 1 skein (108 yards)

Money saving tip: If you decide to purchase your materials online, don't forget to shop through a cash back link. I most commonly shop through my Discover credit card cash back program or ebates. Ebates offers up to 4% cash back for Amazon.com purchases (depending on the item category). You can sign up for ebates here; it's super easy & quick.

Hi! I've been looking for 16'' US size 15 circular needles but I can't find them. Where can you find them at? Please? ^_^ lol. I love your videos btw! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!

Hi Breona!
DeleteIf you're in the USA, you can find the Clover brand bamboo circular needles and they make 16'' US size 15 circular needles : ) I've seen it at Michaels, JoAnns, AC Moore, and Walmart!
If you're not in the USA, I'm not sure where to look :\ Perhaps you can try shopping online!
Good luck!
I purchased a huge tote full of yarn at a garage sale for $5.00. My plan is to use it to make hats to be donated to a ministry that helps the homeless. I found you by looking at you tube for instructions on knitting with circular needles. I don’t see anywhere that allows me to subscribe to your blog. Can you sign me up? [email protected]
ReplyDeleteI’m excited to start learning.
Wow, a whole tote full for only $5.00! That is an amazing deal : ) I hope you've been knitting up a storm ;)
DeleteYou can sign up for my blog via bloglovin on the right sidebar. Unfortunately google got rid of the "google friend connect" option to follow. :( it was working well!
Hi! I was wondering if you thought the Lion Brand Wool Ease "thick and quick" or "chunky" would work for your patterns that call for the Homestyle USA kind? I have a few steins of the two wool ease kinds that I want to use for scarves like this before buying more yarn :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
I think "thick and quick" and the "chunky" will work well in place of the homestyle USA kind I have mentioned. I personally like the homestyle USA better since it's softer -- but the others have a more extensive color selection I think! : )
DeleteHappy Knitting!
I have not tried knitting in the round yet but I want to. I have done the provisional cast on of an uneven number then k1,p1 repeating rows until desired length then kitchener stitch the ends. But this pattern gives me a seed stitch I believe. How can I get the ribbed look like this doing k1,p1?
ReplyDeleteI'd like to do this for a youngster, could you tell me how many stitches to cast on for a child, rather than an adult. thanks
ReplyDeleteI plan to use this pattern to make neck warmers in the colors of the Ukranian flag! Might also make some for my dogs to show their solidarity with Ukraine!!
ReplyDeleteCan I knit the above with straight needles
ReplyDeleteI have never used circular needles. Please advice 🙏
