x0100011010x on All players win?

3 weeks ago

I think that trying to get to a draw through Divine Intervention (clearly how the card is intended to work) is not nearly as interesting as actually trying to make every player win (which would require obviously doing something unintended)

Za above figured out a way to make every player lose the game, which is very related but different imo.

I am sure that "legally" there is some resolution order to this combo I describe below. However, I think it is much more interesting and would be much more surprised than someone just playing Divine Intervention

Most "you win" card (in this article https://draftsim.com/you-win-the-game-mtg/ ) triggers on upkeep or end step, so you couldn't share that victory.

Halo Fountain, Helix Pinnacle, and Maze's Endfoil all let a player win through an ability. But abilities go on the stack and I am not aware (I also didn't even look it up though) of anything that lets you copy abilities for other players.

Curse of Echoes on yourself, then Coalition Victory or Thassa's Oracle would work. Approach of the Second Sun has an annoying clause which prevents copies of it from working for other players. Unfortunately, Coalition Victory would require you giving the other player control of 3-4 creatures and 3-4 lands, so is infeasible. Thassa's Oracle might work if you get their deck down to zero cards (a way is described below), or a few if they have blue.

Twenty-Toed Toad notably lets you win in your attack step. I'm unsure how you would have multiple players attacking in one step. However, I was reviewing all the cards in the link above, and if you cast Ramses, Assassin Lord; enchant Twenty-Toed Toad to be an Assassin; have your opponent gain control of Twenty-Toed Toad (like with Custody Battle and then destroying it, give them 20 +1/+1 counters, and your opponent attacks you: They would win, so you would lose, and you had previously controlled the Assassin Toad, who attacked you this turn, so Ramses makes you win.

Giving everyone Jace, Wielder of Mysteries; or Laboratory Maniac, or copies of them; then casting Leveler and giving copies of them; and then casting something like Burning Inquiry should also work I think. You could have two of Jace/Maniac and cast two Fractured Identity to get that to happen. This route allows even more than 2 players to win.

I mean, if you declare that your objective is to make the game end in a draw... and you do that... then you won, right? Sorta?

If I pulled off either above combo, I would not feel sorta? good, I would feel like I just shattered a fundamental assumption all planeswalkers have made since before the Eldrazi were found, and rejoice

kamarupa - I have. Usually I don't get more than 6 or so tokens from Adeline out at any given time, and usually I don't have more than 10 creatures out max. While this is a go-wide deck, it's also very reliant on anthems like Cathars' Crusade, Goldnight Commander and Konda's Banner in order to really buff up our creatures all at once. Plus, I'm a big fan of cards that do something immediately or have an immediate effect on the game; Halo Fountain requires a fair amount of additional input in order to do anything, if that makes sense.

I'm guessing you have, but have you considered Halo Fountain?

kamarupa on Halo, and Welcome!

Thanks so much for the +1 and suggestion, Craeter! Of course, I definitely don't get a Welcome every game, but the deck has a lot of staying power, so once it gets established, it'll happily grind out long games, and Halo Fountain provides it's own draw card option, which helps. If Enlightened Tutor was a) Modern-legal and b) not $20 a pop, I'd probably run it in all kinds of decks. As it stands, the best Modern tutor options tend to come in 3MV or higher. And really, I actually prefer the broad nature of draw card to the more narrow utility of most tutor spells. I believe card advantage is more often helpful than a tutor. But that's just my opinion, of course. :)

This is a great list but I think you need more lands and mana rocks. Also just a heads up that transforming cards like Ojer Taq cannot be played as their transformed side; you would have to play it as a creature first and transform it before using it as a land.

Personally I would make these swaps:

Second Breakfast -> Windbrisk Heights
Vizier of Deferment -> Shefet Dunes
Ajani, Inspiring Leader -> Bonders' Enclave
Transmutation Font -> Arch of Orazca
Fortifying Provisions -> Fountainport
Bill the Pony -> Minas Tirith
Drannith Magistrate -> Manakin
Flaming Fist Officer -> Hedron Crawler
Odric, Master Tactician -> Gold Myr
Oltec Matterweaver -> Ornithopter of Paradise
Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender -> Mind Stone
Thraben Doomsayer -> Coat of Arms
Gingerbrute -> White Plume Adventurer
Food Coma -> Magewright's Stone
Hobbit's Sting -> Drumbellower
Dawn Charm -> Halo Fountain

If an Orzhov Angel Stompy deck is your objective I concur with multimedia's suggestions about ramp and draw. To add to ramp abilities, may I suggest adding Starnheim Aspirant? It will not only feed into Righteous Valkyrie, but get yer angels on the battlefield sooner. I also concur about the removal of Legion Angel. As a non singleton format, you can't keep extra cards in your sideboard unless they specifically state that you can have any number in your deck.

Speaking of wish cards, some players get salty about wishboards. You may want to find an alternate card for Sparring Regimen to switch in just in the event you have problems with someone and decide it's not worth the arguments. To make wishboard access a tad stronger may I suggest adding Mastermind's Acquisition to your deck? It will allow you to pull another lesson from outside the game or to search your library.

Considering your commander enables casting and, by extension etb triggers, and you have a lot of blink effects, you should consider having Seraph Sanctuary in your deck for the lifegain. And since you have a death trigger in your commander, Teysa Karlov could be a help throwing off counter spells that target triggered abilities.

I also noticed the inexpensive controlling aspects of your deck are largely inexpensive exile cards that benefit the target's controller. I see two options for you. The first is to replace those out. Revoke Existence and Soul Tithe are examples of options if yer interested. In fact, these would make make great additions to what you already have. The second is adding Divine Visitation. If you end up having to use those exile cards on your own stuff then you'll be able the turn them into angels. It also will also allow Halo Fountain to feed into the Enchantment. All of this of course will feed into Seraph Sanctuary.

Speaking of control, I would recommend having Angels that can do that job would help to solidify the tribal aspect of your Angel deck. This would include, but not be limited to Angel of Finality(for decks strong in graveyard interaction) and Metropolis Reformer(Gives you hexproof).Since you already have an angel with landfall in your deck, that would give you the opportunity to add another. Admonition Angel will allow you to exile more creatures.

Speaking of landfall, if you choose to add Divine Visitation, May I suggest adding Emeria Angel? These cards together would feed into Seraph Sanctuary. Also, if you wish to lean a bit more into landfall you should consider more cards you can sacrifice for basic lands. These include, but are not limited to, Esper Panorama, Fabled Passage and Obscura Storefront. These should help with landfall triggers and maybe free up a card somewhere else.

I understand this is a lot. Regardless of which direction you choose to take for this deck you are off to an awesome start. Thank you for reading me out and I hope this helps. Happy Hunting!

Hey, good WIP for Angels, nice Avacyn and Tithe.

When you break it down to the very basics of what you need for Angels it's three things: Angels, ramp and draw. Angels because you want to cast/attack with Angels, ramp because you want to be able to consistently cast your higher mana cost (4+ CMC) Angels and repeatable draw because you want to keep having Angels in your hand to cast. The better Angels you want to attack with, including Liesa, have a high mana cost, without more ramp you'll have a more difficult time casting them. Consider more lower mana cost (1-3 CMC) ramp and more repeatable draw sources?

In my opinion, a good rule for casual Commander deck building is having at least 10 sources of draw and at least 10 sources of ramp, allocate deck room for these. These are the most important two effects to have for smoother gameplay. Better overall gameplay makes playing Commander more fun since you'll get less frustrated with how your deck is running. Consider cutting a few of the lesser power cards compared to other cards here for more ramp and draw?

Add:

Cut:

Some land upgrades to consider that are within the budget for the manabase: Caves of Koilos, Fetid Heath, Shineshadow Snarl, Great Hall of Starnheim, Tyrite Sanctum, Vault of the Archangel, Soulstone Sanctuary, Path of Ancestry

I hope this advice is helpful and I offer more if you're interested, about the potential adds/cuts I've suggested.

Have you considered Nomads' Assembly? This will double the number of creature tokens. Speaking of increasing creature tokens, Dollmaker's Shop//Porcelain Gallery creates tokens when you attack.

Also, I didn't see much in the terms of graveyard hate. Have you considered Lion Sash? It will also help make it's wearer stronger.

I concur with Andramalech. If you can afford it, Anointed Procession should be in your deck.

Definitely a good call to include Halo Fountain. You just might need a few more ways to tap your creatures without attacking in the event the game stalls out.

I hope this helps. Thank you for reading me out. Happy Hunting!
