Sun Chips are a popular brand of multigrain chips made by the Frito-Lay company. Sun Chips’ super-famous cousin, Fritos happen to be vegan, so that begs the question: Are Sun Chips also vegan? Original Sun Chips are vegan but the other four flavors are not because they all contain milk ingredients, even the Garden Salsa flavor, which you might expect to be vegan friendly.
Are Sun Chips Healthy?
Sun Chips are marketed as a “100% whole grain” chip, so that might lead you to believe they are healthy, or at least healthier than other chips. After taking a look at Sun Chips’ ingredients, I would not say they are healthy, but they do appear to be less harmful than some other brands of similar chips, such as Doritos, which contain lots of artificial ingredients. Why aren’t they healthy? Because they mainly consist of processed flours, oil, and sugar; and they provide very few nutrients – they have almost no nutritional value other than a few grams of fat, carbohydrates, and protein.
