Notes: A National Historic Landmark, the Russian Bishop's House has been authentically restored to its 1843-1853 appearance and includes many original furnishings and icons. The building is one of four surviving examples of Russian colonial architecture in North America, and is now maintained by the National Park Service as a component of the Sitka National Historical Park. The house is representative of the Russian Orthodox Church's efforts to expand its influence to Alaskan Native peoples in the mid 19th century.
