Douglas Gordon Art

Douglas Gordon (born 20 September 1966) is a Scottish artist renowned for his conceptual works that explore themes of memory, time, and identity. He gained international acclaim in the 1990s with his groundbreaking video installation 24 Hour Psycho (1993), which slows down Alfred Hitchcock's film Psycho to a 24-hour duration, challenging viewers' perceptions of time and narrative Gordon studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1984 to 1988 and continued his education at the Slade School of Fine Art in London from 1988 to 1990. His diverse body of work encompasses film, photography, installation, and text-based art, often utilizing repetition and manipulation of existing media to evoke psychological and emotional responses.​ Throughout his career, Gordon has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Turner Prize in 1996, the Premio 2000 at the 47th Venice Biennale in 1997, and the Hugo Boss Prize in 1998. His works are part of major public collections worldwide, such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Tate Gallery in London, and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh
