Pierre Lamby Art
Pierre Lamby was one of the great painters of the “Ecole de Paris'' and of the second mid 20th century. He was born in 1932 to a Liégeois father and an Antwerp mother in Liège. In 1938, they had to stay for revalidation in a sanatorium of Leysin, following a serious accident that occurred a few years earlier on the Belgian coast. In 1940, they were evacuated, first to St-Idesbald, then to Nantes, where his father found work and left his family to the island of Yeu, where his mother spent three months before returning to Liège. In 1941, he continued his studies at the Collège Saint Servais in Liège and began learning to draw in the studio of the painter Liègeois Alfred Martin. In 1944 September 4, a voluntary fire by the Germans, jammed Lamby’s factory and the house. His father was deported to a concentration camp and could not return. In 1947, his first trip was to Italy and Paris. Returning to Liège, he learned that he was bankrupt. In 1954, he accepted the offer of a printing press, Cartonnages Dubreucq, as an illustrator of chocolate ballots. In 1988, he planned an enlargement of the medical office and sculpture workshop of Claire Rémy and Michel Hoppe in Beersel. In 1989, he studied polygraphy of the colors of the Grand Place of Mons.
