Roy Borrone Art
Roy Borrone is an American artist associated with the California Bay Area figurative movement. This California Bay Area artist paints slowly and layered, taking months and sometimes even years to complete a single work of art. The paint extends beyond the surface to the edge of the canvas, so framing is not required and makes the painting interesting from every angle. Borrone works in the tradition of gestural painting where ideas grow out of the very act of painting itself. “Long investments such as these create a language that carries relevance to ideas; a quality that is missing in other works today,” said artist, Nathan Oliveira, about Borrone's work. Borrone’s paintings with their powerful presence and solemn confidence are a pleasure to look at and to live with.
