For Sale is a 2000 Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon. 2.3T high output turbo with 230 horsepower. 5 speed automatic. This is a very rare/hard to find car. I bought this car from the original owners, so I have all the maintenance records from day one, including the original window sticker.

It is fully loaded and is the Aero model (comparable to the BMW "M" or Audi "S" lines) It comes with the Saab BBS Sports wheel package and has the 17' premium wheels. Very nice car, sporty powerful and a joy to drive.

Exterior is in pretty good shape for its age. Some scratches and dings but no major body damage.

Interior is in alright shape. The drivers leather seat is cracked in some spots. Passenger a bit as well. The back seats arent as bad as they didnt get much use over the years.

Now here is the deal about this car: it is going for a MECHANICS SPECIAL/AS IS condition. It has multiple problems that need attention but with some work, it shouldnt be too hard to get back on the road. (Or could always be used as parts)

The car starts/runs. The engine and transmission are good.

There is an oil leak from the valve cover I think is what my Saab mechanic told me, he said it is common for these 9-5's.

The radiator has a pretty bad leak. Needs replacement

-The odometer display turns on and there is a reading of 114,880 miles.

-The information coming from the engine feeding the ABS ECU (i.e. RPM, speed, distance) is flowing from whatever engine sensors to the ECU.  This is apparent because the Speedometer and Tachometer both register correct speeds and RPMs respectively.

-Yet, the Odometer is stuck at 114,880 miles which leads us (me and my mechanic) that it could be a simple connector or LCD display issue (not the ABS ECU itself but the full issue is unknown).

The Saab Information Display (SID) has a lot of dead pixels (it is still somewhat readable). Also common on these early 9-5's)

The struts to hold up the hood and trunk are old/dont work. I do have a set of trunk struts I will include. I also have a spare window regulator/motor I happened to get.

Otherwise all the features work: keyless entry, power seats, heated seats, sunroof, radio, climate control, CD player/6 CD changer.

The tires are fairly low on tread.

Thats about as much as I know, I am getting rid of the car because it's just more work than I have the time/money to put in. My loss your gain.

The car would probably need to be towed (as the coolant leak is pretty bad).

Im a Saab enthusiast, and this car is trully a gem. I would love for it to go to good hands.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

GM re-recalls 11k SUVs

Tue, Oct 13 2015

General Motors is recalling a bunch of previously recalled SUVs because, well, they still aren't quite fixed. The latest repairs are necessary on 10,974 SUVs in North America, including 9,932 in only the US. Affected models include the 2006-2007 Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, and GMC Envoy; plus the 2006 Trailblazer EXT and Envoy XL. While not listed by NHTSA, a statement by GM to Autoblog says the 2006-2007 Saab 9-7X and Isuzu Ascender are also affected. In these SUVs, it's possible that liquid could get into the driver's door master power window switch module and cause a short circuit. This could potentially lead to a fire, and owners are urged to park the vehicles outside until repaired. GM has been trying to fix this issue for years. It started as an investigation into fires, and that led to a recall for about 250,000 vehicles in cold-weather states. A nationwide campaign came in 2013 for 193,000 of them in the US. Last year, the automaker decided to replace the whole module as a repair. However in a recent investigation of these recalls, GM discovered that this latest group of SUVs never received the new part. According to documents submitted to NHTSA (as a PDF), "Some dealers incorrectly used the labor code associated with module replacement when, instead of replacing the module, they only added a protective coating to the module." To fix things this time, the models finally get the correct component. Related Video: GM Statement General Motors is recalling 9,932 older midsize SUVs in the U.S. because they were mistakenly excluded from an earlier recall. Certain 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL, and 2006-2007 TrailBlazer, Envoy, Buick Rainier, Saab 9-7X and Isuzu Ascender vehicles may continue to have a condition in which the printed circuit board inside the driver's door may corrode and short if exposed to certain fluids such as melted snow containing road salt. GM is aware of four fires but no crashes, injuries or fatalities associated with the expanded recall. The total number of vehicles being recalled, including Canada, Mexico and exports is 10.974. Customers are urged to park these vehicles outside until repairs have been made. GM reported this recall to the NHTSA on September 23.

Junkyard Gem: 1986 Saab 900 Turbo

Fri, May 31 2019

The Saab 900 sold well in Colorado, and owners of these cars tend to hang onto them for decades. For those reasons, I still find 900s while making my rounds of the self-service wrecking yards in the Denver region. The turbocharged models tended to fail more quickly than their naturally-aspirated counterparts, though, so the 900 Turbo can be tough to find today. Here's a 1986 that took its final tow-truck ride into a Denver yard a couple of months back. The 900 received a makeover for the 1987 model year, so today's Junkyard Gem comes from the final year of the 900 with the endearingly 1960s face derived from its 99 predecessor. Most of these cars didn't chug along for quite as many miles as their Volvo 240 countrymen, but that may be attributable more to the differences in driving style between Volvo and Saab owners. The word TURBO had magical connotations during the 1980s, and so most turbocharged cars of the era boasted big, obvious badging. Red car interiors were all the rage during the 1980s and 1990s. Try to imagine the vivid bordellitude of this upholstery before it faded beneath the blazing Colorado sun. Was it a runner when it arrived here? We'll never know. Last 900 Saabs heading to auction

Fri, 22 Jun 2012

If you've been wanting to get your hands on one last new Saab but missed out on the great Saab sell-off when Saab Cars North America declared bankruptcy, well, your ship has now come in.
Actually, it came in last year - but hundreds of new Saabs got waylaid at ports in California and New Jersey because of the bankruptcy, according to SaabWorld.net. Those cars are now slated for auction, some 900 of them, which will be available for dealers, exporters and rental car companies to bid on beginning next week. Eventually, 300 of these cars should make their way to Saab dealers, where they're expected to be sold off at 30- to 50-percent discounts. The other 600 will either be exported or used as rentals, according to the report, so "the price of Saabs will not be severely depressed."
Besides the new cars, some 67 company cars, including some interesting stuff like a 1960 Saab Quantum IV and a 1970 Sonnett III, will also be auctioned off, according to the report. Of the new cars, just over half are 9-5 models, some 400 are 9-3 sedans, another 60 are 9-3 wagons, and about a dozen are convertibles. According to the report, 28 are actually 9-4X crossovers, which is more than 10 percent of Saab's total 2011 sales for that model.
