More information:

In the spring of 2008, four options were revealed regarding the protection of the coastline between Eccles and Winterton in East Norfolk. Of particular concern to the population of this area along the coast and inland, covering an area of 25 square miles, was the 'worst case' option whereby sea defences would not be maintained, and the sea would be allowed to naturally flood the area in response to rising sea levels and global warming. Six villages could be lost along with fertile agricultural land, internationally recognised wildlife reserves, and a detrimental impact on the tourist and leisure industry. Sea Palling is one of the villages affected and in this scenario has to be considered as endangered. This image shows the present sea wall at Sea Palling which helps to protect the sand dunes and village and land behind.
