Olive Oil + Butter – olive oil and butter together are best to sautee anything in. The butter has amazing flavor and the olive oil helps to brown.

Smoked Sausage – If you have Hillshire Farm at your store, this is my favorite! You can also use Italian sausage as well. Chicken sausage can be a simple way to cut down on the fat content. You can easily use different types of sausage.

Broccoli Florets – Cut broccoli into small bite size pieces. They’ll also cook faster.

Seasonings – This takes the flavor up a notch.

Instant Rice – You want to rice to cook fairly quickly so instant is best. You can also make Instant Pot Rice.

Shredded Cheddar Cheese – this is optional. But it gives amazing flavor!

How To Make This Smoked Sausage Recipe:

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add butter and olive oil until melted. Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook for about 5 minutes until sausage begins to brown.

Step 2

Step 3

Add the cooked rice, garlic powder and onion salt to the skillet. Stir well.

Storage and Reheating

To enjoy your smoked sausage pasta for days to come, follow these storage and reheating tips:

  • Cooling: Let the dish cool completely before storing it in an airtight container. This will prevent the growth of bacteria and keep your pasta fresh and delicious.

  • Refrigerating: Store the cooled dish in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Make sure to keep it away from strong-smelling foods, as it can absorb odors easily.

  • Reheating: Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of chicken broth. You can also add some diced tomatoes or red pepper flakes to give it an extra boost of flavor and freshness.

  • Freezing: Simply place the cooled dish in a freezer-safe bag or container and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to enjoy it, thaw it in the refrigerator overnight and reheat as mentioned above.

Recipe Size and Adjustments

To adjust the recipe size to suit your needs, follow these tips:

  • Scaling up the recipe: To make a larger batch of smoked sausage pasta, simply multiply the ingredients. Keep in mind that you may need to adjust the cooking time accordingly to ensure everything cooks evenly.

  • Scaling down the recipe: To make a smaller batch of smoked sausage pasta, reduce the ingredients proportionally. This is perfect for a quick dinner for one or two people without any leftovers.

  • Substituting ingredients: Feel free to substitute ingredients to suit your taste preferences. For example, you can use beef smoked sausage or turkey smoked sausage instead of traditional smoked sausage. Each type of sausage will bring its unique flavor to the dish, making it exciting and versatile.

Tips for Success

To ensure your smoked sausage pasta turns out delicious every time, follow these tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Choose the best smoked sausage, olive oil, and cheddar cheese you can find. This will make a big difference in the flavor and overall quality of your dish.

  • Add aromatics: Saute onions, garlic, and diced bell pepper to add depth to your dish. These aromatics will enhance the flavor and make your dish more complex and satisfying.

  • Experiment with spices: Add some smoked paprika, or red pepper flakes to give your dish an extra kick. These spices will elevate the dish and make it more flavorful and exciting.

  • Garnish with fresh herbs: Top your smoked sausage and rice with chopped green onions or fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness. These herbs will add a bright, fresh element to the dish and make it look as good as it tastes.

cloves of garlic chopped up, and it was excellent!!! Thank you so much for a great dish that any
