Incident: Monarch A321 near Manchester on Oct 18th 2015, loose part on wing
By Simon Hradecky, created Sunday, Oct 18th 2015 17:10Z, last updated Sunday, Oct 18th 2015 17:14Z

A Monarch Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration G-ZBAG performing flight ZB-654 from Manchester,EN (UK) to Malaga,SP (Spain) with 154 passengers and 7 crew, was climbing through FL210 out of Manchester when the crew stopped the climb and decided to return to Manchester due to a loose part hanging off the right hand wing. The aircraft landed safely back on Manchester's runway 05L about 45 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration G-OZBG reached Malaga with a delay of 4 hours.

The airline confirmed a minor technical fault.

A passenger reported the crew provided top quality communication telling them there was a technical issue. The passenger reported they were descending fast but oxygen masks did not deploy.

Movable Pylon Panel
By Jim on Thursday, Oct 22nd 2015 03:13Z

It's panel 487AR, on the movable pylon. Someone didn't put the screws in after maintenance. Nothing whatsoever to do with pressurisation.

Wasnt there a similar problem recently on AH reported

Picture was obviously taken from the back, no chance to see if seated in the front, and there is no flight engineer on this A/C...And what this has to do with pressurisation system ???

Well, nothing that some good amount of speed tape can't repair. ;)

Loose panel

I was seated near the front and I didn't actually see this, but I suspect that this photo was taken after the flight engineers started their repair work on the pressurisation system.

And MAEL supposed to be one of the best ?!

The part is the access panel of pylon movable fairing.
Apparently almost all screw are missing...

Cabin did not pressurise
By Andrew Webb on Sunday, Oct 18th 2015 17:43Z

Update: apparently, the climb was stopped because the cabin wasn't pressurising (though we, as passengers, did not feel anything). When the F/A was called to the flight deck, apparently the crew had donned their masks.

Interestingly, the loose part was only discovered on landing (see photo), and, as we transferred to the replacement A321, the engine cowls were off.

Overall, a minor technical issue, I think, despite what the tabloid media in the UK are saying!

Sinking Canoe
