INVESTMENT BANKING

At Boulevard, we believe value creation begins with developing a strong multi-faceted strategy that addresses the goals of all stakeholders in the company including employees, shareholders, customers, suppliers and the community.   We then employ tactical services to achieve those strategic goals. Our tactical services include transaction advisory for buyers and sellers as well financing and recapitalization.

BUY SIDE ADVISORY

We utilize our proprietary network and databases to conduct a research-driven process to screen and identify the right acquisition targets based on our client’s strategic criteria including industry, size, product offering, and geography. We directly approach the owners of the pre-screened target companies in order to initiate an active dialogue.  This process frequently builds an active pipeline of acquisition candidates and maximizes options for our clients.

We employ our experience as investors to develop deep relationships between our clients and the sellers. We then facilitate the creation of mutually beneficial transaction structures to effect acquisitions and mergers.

If needed, we frequently help our clients obtain and structure the debt and/or equity financing necessary to fund their acquisitions/mergers.

SELL SIDE ADVISORY

Our sell side advisory services are also research-driven and begin by accessing our proprietary network and databases.  We screen and identify potential buyers based on our client’s criteria around valuation, geography, preferred capital structure and post-closing role of existing management. We focus on finding the right buyer upfront so that we minimize time and labor to closing.

We employ our experience as operators and investors to identify specific attributes of the business that will appeal to potential acquirers.  We then develop marketing materials that highlight those attributes and present them in a manner that appeals to the specific acquirer audience.

Finally, we are specialists at developing a competitive dynamic among potential acquirers.  Competition frequently enables our clients to obtain a higher valuation as well as achieve the other goals that were identified when we initially worked with our clients to develop their multi-faceted strategy.

FINANCING AND RECAPITALIZATION

We are one of the few investment banks that obtain and structure debt and equity financing for our clients. This capability stems from our firm’s private investing activities.  As investors, we employ debt in our portfolio companies and as a result, we are familiar with hundreds of lenders.  In fact, we have developed a proprietary database of lenders that allows us to quickly identify the right lenders for our clients based on a variety of criteria including investment parameters, financial terms/conditions, loan size and geography.

While some of our lending relationships can be classified as banks, the majority of our personal contacts are specialty lenders who wish to lend against the cash flow of a client’s company.  Most of our relationships do not require personal guarantees from the owner(s) or hard assets backing the loan.  They are flexible in their terms and value direct contact with owners and management teams.

PRIVATE INVESTMENT

Boulevard’s private investment efforts are focused on partnering with experienced operators to acquire, fortify and grow small and medium sized businesses.  We provide our operators and partner companies access to capital, management experience and resources that have been historically available only to large companies.
