19 Ways You Know You Went To South Eugene High School
You may go there now or you may have graduated thirty years ago, but your Axeman pride has never faltered.
1.You know that the best way to describe the color of the school is "mixed berry yogurt."
2.You'd recognize this seal anywhere, but you still have no idea what "futura in praesenti iacenti" means.
3.When people talk to you about their ten story high schools and the great design of their classrooms, you tell them "... my school was designed by a guy who designed prisons."
4.Walking from the 100 hall to the 500 hall in the passing period basically made you into an Olympic speed-walker.
5.Whenever you see purple tiles, you think of South.
6.You know that most people didn't ever sit in the cafeteria, but either went out for lunch or sat in the science hallway.
7.It doesn't make sense to you that people called their teachers by anything other than their first name.
8.Anytime you try to explain the IHS/classic split, people end up really confused, even though it makes perfect sense to you.
9.You know that South's biggest claim to fame is Mat Kearney, whose voice is like gold.
10.You know that Track and Field is where South excels most.
11.And ultimate frisbee is a recent runner-up in great South sports.
12.And then there's the minuscule cheerleading team, which is just kind of sad.
13.You've never had more fun than you did watching the Mr. Axeman Pageant. Plus you got to give money to support the babies.
14.You never realized that other high schools didn't get to do great (and sometimes risque) musical productions, like "Rent."
15.Or "West Side Story."
16.It also always surprises you that other schools' health classes didn't cover really important topics, like how to use condoms and HIV/AIDS.
17.You're only now aware, after meeting people who went to other schools, of how progressive South is (it's even featured in this documentary for having great sex ed classes).
18.You know what this picture means, and no matter how many times you've seen it, it still breaks your heart.
19.No matter how many years removed you are, you know you'll never forget this place.
