Wooden Spoon Love Bugs (Kids Craft)
Hi, it’s Niki from Play & Learn Everyday here, sharing our love bug obsession with these easy to make Wooden Spoon Love Bugs for Valentine’s Day!
What you’ll need:
- wooden spoons
- red or pink paint
- red or pink felt
- glue
- googly eyes
- pom poms
- pipe cleaners
- heart stickers
First we painted our wooden spoons with red paint, and then left them to dry for a few hours until the paint was completely dry. You can do one side at a time, but my children are 2 and 4, so we just paint the whole thing at once!
Once the paint is dry you are ready to decorate. First we cut out some heart shapes from the felt and stuck them to the back of the spoon as the love bug’s wings using white glue.
Next we made the love bug a face with googly eyes and a pom pom nose which we stuck on with white glue. For the love bug’s antennas we used a pipe cleaner which we wrapped around the spoon and then twisted at the back to come up above the wings. We also used a bit of glue to secure these and keep them in place.
The final touches to our love bug were some pom pom spots all along the front which we stuck down with glue, and a few heart sticker spots as well.
Now we have our lovely wooden spoon love bugs, which we’ve proudly displayed as Valentine’s Day decorations, but would also be really cute tucked into a card for a family member.
