Get relief from ambient noise

Bose has long enjoyed a solid reputation for the quality and performance of their noise reducing headphones. Compared to earlier models, the QuietComfort® 15 headphones reduce more noise across a wider range of frequencies, thanks to advances the company has made in their proprietary Acoustic Noise Cancelling® technology. Quite simply, these are among the very best noise reduction headphones ever made.

Better noise cancellation with innovative Bose technology

The QuietComfort® 15 headphones feature microphones on both the outside and inside of each earcup that pick up the ambient sounds in your listening environment. Special circuitry inside the earcups then reacts instant by instant to produce an opposite, canceling signal. This circuitry efficiently minimizes unwanted external noises, so they don't interfere with the music from your portable player or the dialogue from in-flight movies.

The QuietComfort® 15 headphones also feature Bose's innovative TriPort® technology. It uses tiny vents in the earcups to produce a tonally balanced sound with deep, rich bass.

Take calls. Take control.

Bose includes a headphone cable made for select Apple products. A three-button remote control built into the cable lets you conveniently answer, end, and switch between phone calls, control the volume of your calls or music, and pause, play, or skip through your songs. You can even enjoy hands-free conversations on your iPhone®, thanks to the remote's built-in microphone. The microphone also lets you take advantage of the voice control feature found on many of the latest iPhone, iPod® and iPad® models. Just hold down the button and say your command.

Bose QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones Enjoy peace and quiet while you travel.

A comfortable listening experience

The earcups feature a plush cushion material that feels great. Plus, their around-the-ear design helps further seal out distracting noises. An adjustable headband helps ensure comfortable listening for hours on end, making these headphones great for long trips. You also get convenient portability — the earcups fold flat for easy storage in the included carry case. The single-sided cord helps resist tangles, and you can even disconnect the cord altogether and just let the QuietComfort® 15 headphones wrap your ears in soothing, restful silence.

Q
Can these be used with ANDOID (Samsung) telephones? All they talk about is I-Phones and they are not my choice

I also have an android phone (Note 3). Things that work with the supplied cable: 1) You can listen to music 2) You can answer & disconnect the phone 3) You can skip to the next track when listening to music (double click middle button) Things that don't work with the supplied cable: 1) The volume buttons don't work for music or calls 2) Previous song feature 3) Fast-forward feature 4) Rewind feature The volume is the biggest issue for me but it's manageable. I just adjust the volume on my phone. I've seen a cable that is made for the QC15 and an Android phone. I've not used the cable but the reviews are good. It's not expensive so it may be worth a try if the missing features bother you. I don't believe that Crutchfield sells this cable but you can ask them. These are great headphones!!! Don't let the cable stop you from getting it.

I have an LG android phone and the quiet comfort 15 works with the built in music app as well powerdvd mobile app. These headphones should work fine with any android phone that has a mini headphone jack "IMHO."

I know it works my Kindle. I have used it for Skype calls with my Kindle. I do not have a Samsung phone, so I have not used it with one.

Stephen: Sorry but can't help with your question. We do not have ANDOID products. We have iPhones.

I've used mine extensively with my Samsung Galaxy S4, and it works perfectly. To the best of my understanding, the only difference in functionality is that the line switch on the cable does work to increase/decrease volume with Apple products, and does not do so with others. Btw I see this item is on sale now for $270. I paid $300 for mine and am very happy with it. As I say in my review, don't expect noise cancellation, but rather noise attenuation. This works especially well for "isolating" you from persistent, same-modulation ambient noise like airplane sounds, crowd noise, and--in my case--subway rumble and jostle. It doesn't work very well for "spikes" in sound like an oncoming siren, possibly a good thing!

My Audiologist has recommended this product due to ear problems I have as regards flying on airplanes. Has anyone else used this for that reason?

I guess it depends if your ear problems are air pressure related, if so, they don't help with that issue. I bought them primarily for flying on airplanes to cut out the noise of the plane and what others are doing on the plane. The headphones work great for that and they are very comfortable. I listen to music and that is what I hear, the noise canceling capabilities of the headphones do exactly what they are supposed to do.

I use my constantly while flying, but only for noise reduction issues.

This is the one piece of tech I use most in my daily life. They're very comfortable for around-ear headphones. However, these really are noise "attenuation" headphones, not noise cancellation headphones. They do an excellent job of reducing ambient roar and hum. I use them primarily here on the streets of New York City. It will very much enhance your feeling of isolation and comfort in an environment with constant loud noise such as a jetliner. These headphones work appreciably less well for noise "spikes." For music reproduction, these are also very good. They can be used simply for noise attenuation without music, or for noise attenuation with music listening. However, they cannot be used only for music listening; noise attenuation must be engaged for these to function. Very nice piece of technology.

Q
How does the noise cancelling for the on ear headphones compare to the ones that go in your ear?
scott  Mar 11, 2014

Couldn't tell you how it compares as I haven't had the inside the ear headphones. But I wore this headphone for a long period of time (almost 8 hrs) on a 14 hr flight from Houston to Dubai and I did not feel tired of having something on my head and around my ears at all. I have had some soreness with other headphones if I wore them more than an hour but not this one. And noise canceling, that was just great as it totally took out the loud flight noise and could hear the soundtrack of movies, songs anything clear. I even used to wear them just to take out the noise even if I weren't watching or listening to anything. Overall, a great NC headphone!

Scott, I have klipsch in ear buds and I can tell you that if you don't raise the volume up in them, you will hear a lot of background noise. The bose qc15 in my opinion block out the subtle noises such as cell phone chatter, ac compressors on the bus. I also keep the volume lower than I do on the in ear. Hope this helps. Richard

I find that the over the ear provides a better seal than an in the ear headphone. The seal provides better noise cancelation capability.

can we use re-chargeable batteries for this model?

I purchased about 20 pairs of these for my team. We use rechargeable batteries all the -time without any issues.
brian  Jan 28, 2014

You certainly can use re-chargeable batteries as long as they are AAA batteries. One thing I didn't like about these headphones is that I would forget to turn them off and it would kill the battery.
nathan g  Jan 28, 2014

No it takes a single AA battery and lasts a long time. I actually like it better than the previous model that required you to recharge

Q
Should I get these or the Sennhesier MM 500-x? Which has better noise cancelling and sound quality?

As background to my reply, I was looking to upgrade from my Bose QC3; which was ok for my overseas flights (130,000+ miles/year) but still allowed a high level of hiss to intrude. A search showed that the two finalists were the Sennheiser and the Bose QC 15. Initially I bought the Sennheiser taking delivery one day before leaving for Dubai and Saudi Arabia. The Sennheiser did perform well with regards to music quality, although I had to use a booster to playback my iPhone iTunes. Without it there was no level of acceptable volume (too low). The biggest problem was a very annoying low frequency rumble apparent in a normal room setting, becoming unacceptable during flight transitions such as flap extensions, taxiing noises, and low speed buffeting that the Sennheiser actually magnified. Thinking that this may have been a one off problem, I returned the first Sennheiser (kudos to Crutchfield customer service helping when I was over seas) and the replacement was waiting for me when I returned. Unfortunately within five minutes I could tell that the low frequency rumble (out of phase feedback?) was even worse on the replacement set. That Sennheiser was sent back (more accolades for Crutchfield customer service!) and I ordered the Bose QC 15. The Bose works as I hoped, cancelling more of the high frequency hiss and most importantly, no rumble. And making a direct comparison to the QC 3, the QC 15 is noticeably more effective than the QC 3 (which are good to begin with). Winner = Bose QC 15 (and also Crutchfield customer service). Hope that this helps.

I don't have the Sennheiser phones, so I cannot say which is better. The Bose work very well and are comfortable. They also have two patch cords to connect apple products and others. The Apple cord is able to answer your iPhone if you have connected it to listen to music on your iPhone.

Seth, I don't know anything about the Sennhesier headphones, but I am very happy with the Bose headphones. I bought two pair of them for a recent trip and they were great. The only complaint was they were uncomfortable after many hours of use on a plane. I don't know if anyone else has had that reaction or whether they were not adjusted correctly.
