About the Klipsch SB 120 Sound Platform
The foundation for great TV sound
The foundation for great TV sound
Ever feel like you keep turning up your TV, but it never really gets that loud? That's because as TVs have gotten thinner, their speakers have gotten smaller. But if you crank up the volume on the Klipsch SB 120, you're not only going to hear it, you're going to feel it. That's because it's a 3-way powered speaker system with six drivers capable of pushing out more sound than you'll probably ever need from your TV. Not sure where you would put such a device? It's also a rock-solid platform designed to rest right underneath your TV. The reinforced cabinet can support most flat-panel TVs weighing less than 100 pounds.
The SB 120 sound platform can support most flat-panel TVs under 100 pounds.
Klipsch's signature sound
Klipsch has long been a standout speaker company thanks to their exclusive horn-loaded tweeters. This design is renowned for producing crystal-clear high frequencies and evenly dispersing them across a wide area. The SB 120 features two horn-loaded tweeters, along with 2 midrange drivers and two ported long-throw woofers for deep bass. What's that all mean? Dialogue will be crystal clear, sound effects more detailed and dynamic, and movie scores more dramatic. Plus, TV and movie sound will be evenly balanced throughout your room, making every seat a great one.
Add music to the mix with Bluetooth
Have a smartphone, tablet, or computer loaded with music? Stream your tunes wirelessly to the SB 120 via Bluetooth and let everyone hear what you're listening to. If you subscribe to a music service like Spotify® or SiriusXM, you can stream those songs too over Bluetooth to this powerful speaker system.
Sound complicated? Far from it
Don't think you can master connecting the SB 120 to your TV and other components? If you can handle a single cable connection, then you should have no problems. Most newer TVs have an optical digital audio output located on the rear panel. All you need to do is connect one end of the included optical cable to your TV and the other end to the SB 120. That's it. You're done. Now any sound that plays through your TV can play though this speaker system. That includes Blu-ray players as well as cable, satellite, or streaming media boxes that are connected to your TV.

Features
Soundbar Speaker Base: The Klipsch SB 120 TV soundbar base is a more compact alternative to both multiple speaker and conventional soundbar systems; designed as a single cabinet, single connection, sound solution that rests underneath your TV on a stand, shelf, dresser, or countertop.
TV Compatibility: The Klipsch SB 120 is designed for flat-panel LCD, LED-LCD, and Plasma televisions that are less than 100 lbs and feature a pedestal-base smaller than 31" wide x 11" deep. Your flat-panel TV must also be fitted with an analog (3.5mm/RCA) or optical (toslink) digital input.
3-Way Speaker Design: The SB 120 combines legendary Klipsch horn-loaded technology with separate midrange drivers and dual subwoofers for dynamic, full-range sound. TV shows, movies, and gaming all sound much more lifelike with extended dialog clarity.
- Dual Tractrix Horn Tweeters: The SB 120 soundbar speaker base features a 0.75" aluminum dome tweeter inside a square Tractrix Horn for smoother high-end response with greater extension, enhanced imaging, and more powerful dynamics. The Tractrix Horns delivers a 90° wide and 90° high dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage.
- Dual Midrange Drivers: The SB 120 features two 3" poly midrange drivers with rubber surrounds for detailed, accurate midrange.
- Dual Subwoofers: The SB 120 system features two 3" x 5" oval, long-throw woofers with rubber surrounds for dynamic, deep bass response.
3D Surround Mode: The Klipsch SB 120 features a selectable 3D Surround Mode designed to simulate the effect of a surround sound system. This effect will work at multiple listening positions in your room.
Digital + Analog Inputs: The Klipsch SB 120 is designed to quickly connect to most TVs using either a digital optical (toslink) connection or an analog (RCA) hookup. Using the digital optical connection, the built-in Dolby Digital decoder accepts sound from both the TV and any device (such as a DVD/Blu-ray player or Cable/Satellite receiver) hooked up to the TV. There is also analog RCA left/right input (and a RCA-to-Mini adapter), if your television does not offer an optical digital output.
Bluetooth Audio Streaming: Built-in Bluetooth lets you stream stored music and music apps on your Bluetooth-enabled device to the Klipsch SB 120 speaker system. You will continue use your Bluetooth-enabled device to navigate your music and view song/artist information. The speaker pairs with your Bluetooth-enabled device with a single press of a button. Once paired, the SB 120 will automatically re-connect with your device when in wireless range (up to 33').
Remote Control: You can program the Klipsch SB 120's Volume Up/Down and Mute functions into your existing TV remote for further ease-of-operation. You also have the option of controlling all functions of the system with the included IR remote control or front-panel controls.
Auto Standby: You do not need to turn off the SB 120, just turn off your TV (or satellite/cable box) and the SB 120 will automatically go into standby mode in approximately 10 minutes.

Tried the Bose Solo but the size of the TV and the weight made placement too risky (didn't want to crush the speaker) so I decided to try the Klipsch. I know a little about their product line and when I compared the features to similar products available, Klipsch was an obvious choice.
