About Our Organization
We believe that all children in California should have access to an Arts education that develops essential life skills.
Through artistic practice at the Davis Arts Center, students will develop a strong work ethic and a respect for materials, process, and subject. Students will be part of a creative community that celebrates the power and reward of close examination of our world, a willingness to engage in self-discovery, flexibility in the face of challenges, and a sense of joy in achievement.

Art Explorers: Spring into Art Camp
Let’s make art! Join us for art adventures, friendship, and fun during Spring Break. Register for a variety of themed days exploring sculpture, painting, drawing, and mixed media, led by our amazing team of Teaching Artists. Davis Arts Center staff will guide campers in fun camp activities and outdoor play. All materials are provided, just bring a water bottle, snack, sunscreen and your creativity!

Art Explorers: Creative Kids
Embark on an exciting adventure of creativity in Art Explorers! This dynamic, hands-on class invites young artists to explore a wide range of art materials and techniques, from painting and drawing to collage and printmaking. Over the course of five weeks, young artists will be encouraged to learn and experiment, developing a sense of self-expression and a final art portfolio!
Each session offers different projects and techniques.

art explorers: Creative Clay for Kids
Get your hands dirty in this fun and creative weekly clay class! Over the course of 5-weeks, young artists will explore various clay techniques to bring their unique clay creations to life. Young artists will have the opportunity to learn about the entire clay process, from shaping the clay, to glazing and kiln firing. As they learn about the clay process, they will be amazed at how their final pieces turn out! This class can be taken multiple times as no two classes are alike. (Materials included)

Weaving for All Ages
An individualized weaving class for all ages and skill levels. Beginners learn to produce simple weaving projects while becoming familiar with basic weaving terminology and techniques. More experienced students will work at perfecting their technique, using more complex looms and patterns with less step-by-step direction. Since there are many items to be made, classes may be taken more than once. Taught by Verena Borton. (Materials included)

Ever want to try your hand at the potter’s wheel? Learn the basic techniques of wheel throwing, learning to produce basic projects while becoming familiar with the terminology and techniques of clay. Teen Art Club
Calling all teens – come hang out and explore your creativity by joining the Teen Art Club! Members will meet every Thursday in our Community Art Studio, where there are plenty of art materials to choose from. Snacks will be provided, and members are encouraged to bring their own sketchbook. Members can arrive and leave anytime between 5pm-7pm.

Ceramics Open Studio
Are you an experienced potter or currently enrolled in a ceramics class at the Davis Arts Center? Register for Ceramics Open Studio to practice and develop your wheel-throwing skills. Please note: This is not an introductory class.
Your monthly pass includes:
- Studio time and access to a wheel
- Access to tools and materials
- Some clay (additional clay available for purchase at the front counter)
- Glaze and firing

Introduction to Printmaking - What a Relief!
Join this beginning class for an introduction to printmaking! This session will cover the very basics of relief printing using linoleum. A class set of materials will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own (a materials list will be provided). This is a class designed for students unfamiliar with printmaking.

Workshops
Wheel Throwing Boot Camp
Want to take your throwing to the next level? Join us for a hands-on workshop designed to refine your wheel throwing technique. Under the guidance of a professional potter, students will throw pots, cut them in half, and analyze each to identify areas of improvement. The focus is on skill-building, so students will leave with enhanced technique rather than finished pieces. Register for all three days or register for individual days. Open to beginners and people with prior wheel throwing experience. Materials will be provided. Bring a non-refrigerated lunch and a water bottle for breaks.

Collage Craze!
Unleash your creativity and explore the endless possibilities of collage art! Students will dive into the crazy collage chaos, learning how to rip, tear, and combine recycled materials to create unique and imaginative designs. All materials will be provided and by the end of the workshop, students will take home a collection of collaged masterpieces and a deeper appreciation for collage!

Pottery Night out
Want to try pottery but hesitant to go alone? Join us for Pottery Night Out! This single day wheel throwing workshop is designed to be enjoyed with a pottery partner—whether it's a loved one, family member, or friend. Spend a fun and creative evening getting hands-on with clay and exploring something new! Perfect for both beginners and those with prior wheel throwing experience.
Workshop price includes registration for two people, clay, glaze, and firing. Students will make their pieces and the instructor will finish trimming, glazing, and firing the pieces. Finished pieces will be available for pick-up a few weeks after the workshop.

Handbuilding Sculptures
Come build your very own sculptural vessel with the coil-building technique in this multi-day workshop! Explore the intersection between form and function while learning the basics of coil building. Students will leave the workshop with an understanding of coil-building techniques and 1-2 vessels to decorate your home or give away as gifts. Price includes clay, access to tools, and firing. Final pieces will be available for pick-up a few weeks after the workshop ends.
