Loose Women star Ruth Langsford has revealed her mother Joan has had a serious accident with just days to go to Christmas. The 64-year-old took to Instagram to share the news with her 1.1 million followers.

She posted a video of her 90-year-old mother looking in rude health as she sang and dance while she peeled vegetables at the kitchen sink. However it transpired the clip was throwback as the presenter revealed in the comment.

"No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas….she’s had a fall and fractured her pelvis!

"She’s ok…ish, no surgery required thank goodness but she needs rest and time to heal now. She’s in hospital at the moment but I’m hoping to get her home soon.

"This time last year she fell and broke her hip but recovered well…she’s a very strong woman so I’m sure she’ll recover from this too. Put’s life and what’s important into perspective eh? Happy Christmas! X x," she wrote.

Meanwhile a third commented: "Sending hugs and a speedy recovery for your mum, she’s a string lady who I’m sure will literally bounce back."

This is the latest festive health woe to hit Ruth's mother. She broke her hip in a fall ahead of Christmas last year and Ruth revelaed in February she had to have a full hip replacement following the accident.
