There are so many beautiful Middlesbrough buildings.
And many of them have been impressing passerbys for more than a hundred years.
Here we bring you previously unreleased photos - many never before seen by the public - showing well-known historic properties across the town.
They have been released for a new project called My Town, My Future and the vast majority are from the Middlesbrough Council archives.
The website explains more.
It says: “My Town, My Future is an exciting project looking at the past, present and future of Middlesbrough.
“We’re working with volunteers to digitise our fantastic collection of historic photographs, some of which have never before been seen by the public, and which we’re posting right here on this website .
“The people of Middlesbrough are at the heart of what we’re doing, so we’re encouraging you to get involved by leaving lots of comments on our posts, as well as sharing them on Facebook and Twitter.”
Those running the project would love for you to get involved too - and add your own photos to their collection.
The website adds: “We’d love to feature your photos and hear the stories behind them too.”
My Town, My Future is an Arts Council-funded project and run by Middlesbrough Council’s Culture and Communities service.
Here are five pictures we have picked out of the well-known Middlesbrough buildings.
1. Here is The Empire - or the Empire Music Hall as it was called in 1900 when this photo was taken.
It’s now a successful nightclub - and last year run tours to show non-clubbers behind the scenes.

2. Has it really changed?
Here is a photo of Middlesbrough Railway Station in 1970.
It was courtesy of Margaret Annett.
3. Wow! Look at what was showing at the then ABC Cinema in 1978.
It became now closed pub The Crown in more recent years.
And if you look over the road, there’s another well known Boro building which was then Midland Bank.
4. The town hall now is in a sorry state.
But wind the years back to 1967 and you can see the essence of what was once a building central to Middlesbrough.

5. Are those...houses?
There is now a hotel, shops and restaurants opposite the town hall.
But in 1900 the street scene was very different.
