There are a lot of great games coming in 2004. Sure, we do need to talk about Fable and Halo 2 and DOOM 3, but we're never going to pass up an opportunity to talk about Jade Empire, no matter how far off it might be.
Today we received five exclusive screenshots of Jade Empire. Though we were thinking of just keeping them to ourselves, we decided instead to share them with you. These images show off new magic and also some new areas never seen before. While we can't yet reveal any real details on these new areas just yet, we figured you'd want to at least take a peek to get your imagination going.
Now, if you're not interested in Jade Empire, look away. Because one look at these fantastic new screens just may sucker you in to the hype. If you're already looking forward to Jade, then you better start scrolling down. And be sure to click on the link at the bottom of the page to see all of our Jade Empire images and videos.
Death's Hand
Head of the Lotus Assassins and right hand to the Emperor, Death's Hand is a fearsome warrior. He leads through fear, and believes that force is the best way to rule a kingdom. In this screenshot, Death's Hand is seen without his legendary blade, but it is never far from his side. What type of man hides behind the mask? The only hope of discovering the Death Hand's secret is to play Jade Empire.
Wu the Lotus Blossom
Wu the Lotus Blossom is one of several playable characters available when you first start Jade Empire. You don't have to choose her, as there are other characters to select. You can even make your own character if you're so inclined. However, she's a very balanced character and she's kinda hot. Not a bad choice at all.
The Beach
While the focus of this screenshot is on Wu in action, take notice of the background. This is a never-before-seen area. This surprisingly grassy beach, features a grounded ship and some large trees. Is this a ship Wu sets sail on?
Cold as Ice
Magic is just as common as swordplay in the world of Jade Empire. Wu displays a new magic we haven't seen before. Now that this enemy is trapped by Wu's ice magic, she can kick his helpless ass.
Follower in the Wings
This final shot shows Wu attacking what appears to be some sort of humanoid creature -- an enemy we've never seen previously. What you should note, aside from this new enemy's rather gnarly nails, is Wu's follower who is preparing to attack. You will have multiple followers throughout your adventure and this is one of the first times we've actually seen one participating in a battle. We'll have more details on followers over the next few months, so don't worry.
Thus ends another little taste of Jade Empire. We'll continue to give you all the goods on Jade as we approach its release early next year. Want to stay on top of all the latest Jade Empire news? Add it to your Wishlist.
