We understand that many of our readers are tiny house purists so please forgive us for sharing this charming historic cottage in Beaufort, South Caroline which is definitely over the 500 square foot limit for tiny houses but we love so many things about the restoration that we just had to! While the home isn’t technically “tiny”, we do think it will inspire your tiny house dreams with its style and design.
This cottage was built in 1889 and recently got an update by its new owner, Josh, who rents it out on Airbnb to visitors. We love the curb appeal of this cottage with its full-length, extra-deep front porch and double porch swings that beg you to sit and stay for a while. The home is completely white with a gray metal roof, a color scheme that’s continued inside.
Inside, the home is warm and cozy with white shiplap walls and gorgeous hardwood floors in every room. The all-white color scheme makes the home feel fresh and clean while the natural light streaming through the windows gives it an airy quality.
The home’s kitchen is well-equipped with white cabinets and open shelves. A slate-gray countertop warms up the room. You also have a cooktop and oven next to the deep stainless steel sink.
The cottage has two bedrooms making it a perfect rental for a family. The first bedroom has a king-sized bed with all-white bedding to go along with the home’s theme. In front of the bed is a wall with built-in storage cabinets and a sweet little window seat.
The second bedroom is what dreams are made of with a queen-sized bed surrounded by gauzy white curtains. We love this charming room which also has a window seat and storage cabinets.
The home’s bathroom also received an update to modernize the facilities. A marble floor and countertop were added as well as a full-sized toilet and shower with a hot water heater.
