Travelling around
It’s easy to get around the rest of the UK and beyond from Manchester.
Whether it’s a morning climbing the mountains in the Peak District, a day trip to Liverpool or London, or even a weekend away exploring Europe, there are plenty of new adventures to choose from.
See where some of our students go on their travels and how they get there.
Student trips
With such a well-connected city, be sure to get yourself a railcard if you're planning to see more of the UK.
Our International Society regularly host trips to parts of the country for students who sign up to their society. Recent destinations have included York, Chester Zoo and Cambridge, but you could always organise your own trip with friends if there's somewhere different you're especially keen to visit.
Adventures across the country
Discover the countryside
The surrounding areas of Manchester offer stunning natural beauty. If you're looking to explore, have joined an outdoor club or your course has field trips, you may find yourself in one of the following areas:
- Peak District: just a short drive or train ride away, this is the perfect place to unwind and clear your mind. Take on a beautiful hiking trail for breath-taking views before grabbing a brew in a quaint village tearoom.
- Lake District: whether it's for a weekend getaway or a day trip on the train, the famous lakes and hills will inspire you in the same way they have inspired well known literature through the years.
- North Wales: within a couple of hours, you can reach the striking beauty of North Wales, including scenic coastlines, mountainous landscapes and brilliant rural pubs.
