Here is a leaked image showing the new crop lever of the GFX100RF. I also made a rough size comparison with the Fujifilm X-PRO3 and the Leica Q3 camera. The medium format fixed lens camera will be announced on 20 March.

Escura’s “InstantSnap” is basically a giant viewfinder with a small camera on it. It is scheduled to be released in May, and is expected to cost around 7,000 yen.

CIPA shared their camera shipment forecast for 2025.

Shipment forecast for 2025 * () indicates year-on-year change

• Total digital cameras: 8.58 million units (+1.0%)
• Interchangeable lens cameras: 6.66 million units (+0.8%)
• Integrated lens cameras: 1.92 million units (+1.9%)
• Interchangeable lenses: 10.56 million units (+2.4%)

The market will essential remain stable. Let’s see if they are right on this one :)

Sigma CEO Yamaki had a talk at the CP+ show. He said Sigma would release many new ART lenses this year. The only specifics he shared was about the updated version of the current 35mm f/1.2 L lens:

• To be released soon
• Be way more compact (similar design to the Sigma 50mm f/1.2)
• Be lighter
• Be optically superior despite the smaller size
• Made for Sony E and Leica L mount cameras

There was an official L-mount alliance press conference at the CP+ show (see video below). Two news are important:

1. L-Mount aims to expand its ecosystem by welcoming more participants, ensuring a diverse and innovative product lineup in the system camera market
2. Many companies have expressed interest in joining the alliance

For me, point one is crucial. We only have Panasonic making “mainstream” and also “affordable” cameras. Leica cameras are too expensive for most and Sigma is going niche with the BF. I would be happy if DJI and other cameras would also produce L-mount system cameras!
